I was due to stay at this Hotel on 1/9/22 for one week as I was attending my family wedding nearby on 2/9/22. The hotel tried to contact me to tell me of alternative arrangements ( as a film crew was using the hotel subsequent to my booking ) and I only got the message after I landed so the contact was made when I was flying from the UK to Jamaica. At 11.45pm , I got the message that I’ve been diverted to another hotel which was the Frenchman Cove nearby . As a single woman on the trip, I was excepting to join my family at Jamaica Palace. They arrived ahead of me and were diverted to different hotels by Jamaica Palace - we were separated. I arrived by taxi at Frenchman Cove at midnight , it was isolated, dark and did not have any of the luxuries as in the Jamaica Palace Hotel- I felt afraid and isolated as I could not see any nearby properties around me . There was no water to drink, no tea, no coffee, no breakfast , a small piece of soap , off color towels and very dark. There was no nearby shops . I complained to Jamaica Palace who provided me with breakfast on 2/9/22- left at the gate on day of the wedding . I complained again on 3/09/22 and was moved to Match Resort . The hotel room was good but to get to my room I had to fight the stench of cat urine daily in the corridors and cat poo once . It was substandard compared to what I had paid for Jamaica Palace. Most of the time the pool remain unused due to algae and was cleaned when I complained . The receptionist was the cook, who served a tiny breakfast which was tasteless and substandard. The coffee machine was just reheated everyday and not fresh and tasted sickening. I had to fan the flies to get to the tea and sugar. The alternative hotels ( Frenchman Cove and Match ) were nothing compared to Jamaica Palace . I was severely short changed and a beautiful once in a lifetime experience with my family ruined by Jamaica Palace Hotel.
