I love hotels in restored old buildings. They did a good job. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean, except for the rainshowerhead, which the cleaning ladies probably can not reach. The external soundproofing is excellent. Internally, less so. There is a nice terrace and bar next to the pond (sorry, lake) in front of the hotel, where you can enjoy a drink. There is a restaurant too, but it wasn’t staffed at this time of the year, and one was encouraged to go for snacks from the bar. Fortunately, There are good restaurants nearby. The lobby is lively and I liked the steambath. The parking is on a vacant lot next to a building site. The Hydrama is a fine hotel, but not “Grand”. Apart from the St.Barbara Springs, The town is unremarkable. The region is rightly known for fine wines.
