Hubert House

Probably the most welcoming hotel I've ever visited! We booked 1 room for 4 adults last minute, because the place we were supposed to stay at cancelled on us when we'd got here. The lady who runs the place even gave us a second room free of charge when we got here! The hotel is conveniently located just a couple of mins walk from the town, sea front etc but just out the way enough that there's no noise. The hotel is stunningly decorated & furnished, and is very very clean. The lady who runs the hotel is so lovely. She was so friendly, chatty & happy to offer tips of places of interest, restaurants and so on. Every evening there was some kind of complimentary sweet treat in the entrance like muffins and biscuits. Then, our first morning there were complimentary croissants and pan au chocolate. On our last morning she invited us down to the restaurant where she put on a breakfast spread! Eggs, omelette, hash browns, sausage, bacon, baked beans, toast, jams, marmalade, honey, tea, coffee! She couldn't do enough for us, she's just soo lovely! We will definitely come again, couldn't recommend enough!

We stayed here for one night prior to a cruise. We were greeted by the inn keeper and promptly taken to our room. We had the Georgian King Suite. There are steep stairs at the entrance, the only way in. Once inside there are more steep stairs to our room. We were helped with our luggage. Our room was very nice, clean with en suite. The inn keeper made sure we had the proper power adapters. We had some but they were not correct. The room was quiet. The next day the inn keeper arranged a taxi for us. She was able to get the taxi driver to get our luggage from our room. A light breakfast was available in the morning. Coffee and tea available in room. Nice place to stay, just be prepared for the steps.

I spent two nights here recently and would return. A friend and I had a quad room which was comfortable and roomy enough for two. The fresh breakfast each morning was delicious. Location is convenient for walking to Dover Castle and to restaurants/retail areas. I failed to get the name of our hostess but she was very helpful and friendly.

The website states a balcony, that’s a flat out lie. We stayed in the Georgian suit, the most expensive room. The one window that did open, opened very little. The bed is not a king, the floors are squishy and feel like they will cave in. The bidet leaks, the shower is either scorching hot or freezing, very hard to get a decent temperature. The extremely expensive breakfast was laughable, the potatoes were a repulsive mix of overcooked and leftover tator tots, hash browns and house potatoes all slopped together. The meats looked like they were meant for pig slop and everything was cold and virtually inedible. There is no soundproofing eventhough it is listed as such and the cost does not at all reflect what you actually get.

Hubert House was great. We were 2 adults and 2 kids in one room. There was ample space. The room had a couch, chair, fridge and desk area. The bathroom was clean and had plenty of hot water. The woman managing the house, Farrah, is amazing. We payed for laundry service, dropped off our clothes and left for the day. When we came back, she had all of our things cleaned and sorted. We came in late drenched from the rain. She handed us another bag for wet clothes and then washed and dried those. She left us snacks and breakfast since we were packing out the next day. It was one of my favorite stops in England.

We booked this place my husbands 40th and it was totally amazing. Very small and intimate attraction to detail the interior and the history of this gorgeous hotel really was impressive. Very close to town. Very cozy and the warmth from the staffs absolutely made our stay more memorable. They took time explaining everything from day trips to food and directions. We definitely recommend this boutique hotel. Thank you Jay & Yukiko
