I have stayed here in the past, when it wasn’t as well “maintained” (clean). This was the best I have ever seen it. THIS IS NOT THE RITZ CARLTON, but it was okay. The room smelled clean, no stains anywhere and the carpet, while showing it’s age was clean. The check-in clerk was efficient, but not overly polite. She kept charting with the construction worker who was checking in in front of me—for about 10 minutes after the business of checking in was concluded. When I checked out at 7:30 a.m., I had to ring the bell because no one was at the desk. The clerk admonished me with, “You didn’t have to ring the bell I was on the way.” How was I to know you were en route if I could not see you, Einstein? But—if this is the worst thing that happened, then that is fine. The breakfast was better than expected. Waffle iron, fruit, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs turkey sausage, coffee, tea, 3 different kinds of juice and yogurt were on offer. They also had two kinds of cereal. Note: Get a room on the top floor if possible and get a room away from the elevator. Dothan hosts lots of traveling sports games and this hotel is generally occupied by lots of kids/coaches/parents. They will be up and down the elevator A LOT. And they like to jump up and down on the floor…staying on top will alleviate that. NOTE: if you are in a quandary about whether to stay here or pay -almost 100% more and stay at the Hampton next door —here was my thinking. I am a huge Hilton brand fan…especially Hampton Inn. However, the difference was just not worth it to me. The rooms at Hampton Inn are nicer and the lobby is nicer, but the beds were okay at Sleep Inn and the breakfast is essentially same. I paid $215 (total) for 2 nights here and it would have been $400 at Hampton.
