Baraza Resort and Spa Zanzibar

After arriving in, and staying In Stone Town for one night, this resort may as well be in a different country. All of the city noise, markets, and people just seem to disappear. The only sounds you hear are calm waves, slight wind through the palms, and the waiters asking if you need anything. The resort is spotless, well maintained and the people are the friendliest ever. Food is 5* and always available.

Everything was wonderful. We were treated very well. We checked out at noon & our pickup time to go to the airport was not until 5:30 pm. They still let us stay for lunch & use the facilities until pickup time. Would love to go back when I get another chance.

After a 17 day safari this was truly a time to chill out and relax. Walking into the lobby was breathtaking!! (thanks Ally) Access to the Indian ocean provided much needed inner peace. My villa was absolutely awesome. All of the staff were extremely accommodating. Grateful to have been pampered - manicure and deep tissue massage was on point (much thanks to Yunita!!!) Food (thanks Hidaya) and Drinks (Mtawa!!!) fantastic.

Family of five. We stayed at a large 2 bedroom villa. All inclusive with the best food/drinks and service. So relaxing by the sea. Just enough kids for my youngest 8 year old to play with. Don't forget to book a snorkling trip..it was the best. No need to bring towels from home for the beach. Lots of them there.

This 5-star resort is over the top in luxury. 30 villas on the beach that goes back to Omani sultans. Our villa felt like a posh condo if it had a kitchen. Every detail has been captured and you feel like you fell into a story book in time. The grounds are incredible to enjoy by the pool or overlooking the beach. Can snorkel, paddle so a host of water activities or relax by the pool. The services top notch! I love that there is a library and I found an amazing book on the history of Tanzania and Zanzibar in particular. The dark past is one that everyone should learn in school and likely does not unless they live there. The trade by the dhows goes back centuries. The service is top notch and I have to say I have never felt that relaxed on vacation. I should have come years ago. The spa is also worth checking out. Post safari, it is the best place to visit for a minimum of 5 nights. I also learned to play Bao with Gharib. Highly recommend it. Managed to buy the game at the airport. Guests are from all over the world and tend to keep to themselves more so don’t expect this to be an all inclusive Mexican type experience. The staff treated us exceptionally with a private dinner by the pool one night. That is certainly service! People who went above and beyond are Esther, F&B manager, Kevin on check in, Lucas the chef from Spain (food is incredible and ask for his soups) Mwanahija our favorite waitress and of course, Gharib, the walking textbook of knowledge who helped me understand the history and meaning of Baraza. ❤️

We ended our Safari in Zanzibar at Baraza. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and the staff was incredibly attentive. You felt they were so happy you were there and wanted to be sure you had the best time possible with anything you needed to make it better. The food was delicious! The chef was so friendly and even though there were incredible options to choose from he said if we didn’t see something he would create it for us. There was no need as there were so many great things! My children were 7 and 9 and had a great time with the water trampoline, volleyball, stand up paddle boarding and just enjoying the pool and beach. The wonderful staff at water sports made sure they had the best time and the kids loved playing fireball on the beach with them. We did not get to do all of the activities they offered in the water sports area, but if time allowed there were many more that looked to be fun! The first day of our stay they said they had something special planned for us and surprised us with a gorgeous private lunch on the beach. Communication with Baraza leading up to the trip was excellent and they gave great tips and advice that really helped us with trip planning and made the trip as perfect as possible! The relaxation area at the spa was wonderful and the massage was amazing!!

We stayed in a room with an ocean view, and would recommend doing that because you can walk directly from your room to the beach. The beach there is a white sand powder that doesn't burn your feet. The room was comfortable and clean, and luxurious to the max. Excellent food, the chef was professionally European trained and it shows. Breakfast and lunch are buffets with ample and delicious choices. Dinners are either buffet or set 5 course menus which some choice. Service and staff were friendly and helpful. We did 2 excursions, one to Jozani forest which the hotel arranged for us, and one on a snorkel trip that a hotel staff took us on, both of which were great.

This is by far a top tier luxury resort. From the moment you arrive your villa host will greet you and ensure all questions are answered. We were most fortunate to have the Amazing Angela as our villa host, who did everything possible to ensure we had an phenomenal experience, which we truly did. On top of the lavish architecture and facilitates, the wonderful staff on resort are the icing on the cake. Nothing is too much trouble, literally before you even ask they are their to fulfill requests you had not even thought of. I will definitely be back to experience the warmth that is being a Baraza guest.

Wow!! Amazing resort and spa. Loved our own villa with ocean front views. It was very large and comfortable. I could live there. It was just Beautiful. 5 stars or above. We needed so R&R from a week long safari and this was the place to do. I can’t recommend enough.
