Beach and Facilities - AMAZING AND PERFECT - not enough chairs for everyone and people "reserve them" by leaving their towel on it for the entire duration of the stay, very rude, so other people cant use it even when they are not at the beach that day. Surprisingly, vendors were allowed to walk on the beach and try to sell you things, security just let them come right on. It was strange, as its supposed to be private. Room - very clean and tidy - nice balcony - but very damp - needs a dehumidifier Food - very pretty but lacks flavor and taste - most places closed or needed "reservations" to get food - not as abundant as you would think - seems very difficult to find something to eat, had to go over to the Family side of the resort to find food all the time. Even then, they just give you a half of a sandwich and a really small drink each time. Restaurants - very hard to book - they lost our reservations twice! When you approach to come in, they act like you are interrupting them. Staff - gratuity included facility - but EXPECT tips and will ignore you if you don't have any money in hand. They will talk Spanish to each other about you and serve people behind you that have money in hand. We tipped only the nicest people. 90% of the staff are so mean and act like you are interrupting them when you approach for something. Its really sad, it was our first time here but we will not come back to DR b/c of how entitled the staff seem and always want something from you. Steer clear of any gift shops set up for the day on the resort hey will charge you in peso's and take advantage of you. They are confrontational when you don't buy something and try to physically guide you to their table and will not take no for an answer. Very pushy. When we didn't leave a tip at the restaurant, b/c the await staff ignored us and the food was not cooked, we left and they physically stepped in our way and became confrontational about why we were leaving and tried to block our way out. It was very unprofessional. We tip very well when someone goes above and beyond, but they expect money every time you order a tea or a drink or they refill your water. Like, this place is super expensive at $3500 per person US for 5 days. Gratuity is supposed to be included, but clearly they treat you very different without cash in hand. It was very disappointing to be treated this way. Beautiful place, and stunning views, but staff ruined it for us. I would say 5 out of 50 staff we encountered were nice. Disappointing experience, but the nicest staff on the excursions to Saona and Catalina, highly recommended Leigh at the dive shop to help you out, she is so very kind, and Maria on the excursion was so nice! We had a great time both days. Luis at the front door is very kind and always smiling, very nice guy. Appreciative of him for sure.
