Hotel Varonos anmeldelser

Disappointing old hotel that is clean but outdated. Bed squeaks. A shower so small you cannot stoop down if you drop your soap. Friendly, family owned but needs updating. Breakfast was ok but horrible coffee. Pillows and linens were old. Beautiful view but I would not return unless it was updated.

This is a well-run, welcoming family hotel, but it is, well, in need of a bit of tlc. The colour schemes, pictures on the wall, furniture all seem to date from about 1973. We booked a family apartment (two rooms, two bathrooms), which was completely adequate for our needs, and we have absolutely no complaints, but the bizarre colour of the walls, blankets, bathroom were, well, bizarre. No grumbles, and the staff were lovely, but I think more than two nights and the decor might have driven me mad.

This was our second stay at Varonos (our first being in 2017) and it was as good as we remembered. We were sad to discover that our host had died in the intervening five years - but the same family hospitality is still alive. A warm welcome, well maintained and comfortable rooms, a fresh breakfast buffet with good coffee - and of course the breathtaking view down the valley. With the new adjacent coffee shop, it's also easy to grab refreshments as you come in or out of the hotel. Anyone wishing to visit Delphi should plan to stay a few nights. You get to enjoy the archeological sites at your leisure (just a short walk away) and Delphi itself is a great little village full of friendly people and good food.
