Tru by Hilton Deadwood

Great location. Walking distance to downtown deadwood with shopping and restaurants

I was just here for two nights ($137 total for 2 nights), but was disappointed. Called before I got there and gal on the phone told me to enter through valet parking - opps, apparently because of the construction, there was no valet parking (and no sign). Also because of construction it was really hard to find a parking spot, and I never saw any “diamond only” reserved spots. Located on the second floor of a ****** that allows smoking - might not be ideal for kids. Room was clean and very small as is customary with the TRU brand. Room had small fridge, but no coffee maker nor microwave. My room was “sorta” serviced once. I mean they replaced the towels, but didn’t vacuum or make the bed. Breakfast area was filthy with all trashcans overflowing. Table tops dirty too. Food options so bad looking, I choose to pass.

Front desk staff were super friendly and we enjoyed the outdoor patio space to visit with friends but this place needs good cleaning! Between our friends group, all 5 rooms had filthy walls, the bathroom floors had dirt/dust pilled along the baseboards and the hallways were filthy although they did eventually vacuum before we left. For the price to stay here on a weekend and this being Hilton property, I expected a much cleaner place to stay! Im not sure what was smeared on the walls in our rooms but it was disgusting and could easily be corrected if someone took the time to wipe the walls down in the rooms. Next time we are in Deadwood, we will look for other hotel options.

We like Tru by Hilton and this one did not disappoint.. Sure, it’s a little confusing with Doubletree check in on the ground floor and Tru check in on the second floor, but everyone is super friendly especially starting with Lily at the front desk.

The location of the hotel was easily walkable to Downtown Historic Deadwood, even though it is located at the edge of town. There is also a local shuttle. There is a ****** located on the main floor, with the hotel above. Check-in on the 2nd floor. Know in advance the rooms are very small with no closet or storage. There was a bar with a few hangers on it and some hooks. When I inquired about the lack of storage and space I was told the hotel was designed to resemble a European Hostel. That was not what I was looking for, but I had booked the room already, and we were traveling with another couple, and we wanted to stay together. There is absolutely no unpacking your luggage if you are there for an extended stay. We were there for 2 nights, and we had to rearrange the tiny tables, so we were able to open our 24 inch suitcases at the same time without using the bed. If you are a backpacker it’s fine. If you have children or are staying for an extended amount of time inquire about a larger room, or stay somewhere else. But the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The lighting in the room was interesting to say the least. It was either off or on with megawatt brightness. The lights located in the ceiling over the head of the bed are super bright, and they are not dimmable. Also there is only 1 switch to operate them on 1 side of the bed. I wish there had been a low watt lamp on the other side of the bed because my husband usually falls asleep an hour or 2 before me. Luckily for me my phone has a flashlight app. The bathroom was bright and clean with soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion provided, along with a hairdryer. I was easily able to get extra towels. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate were available 24/7. The breakfast provided was delicious. It was the best on our trip. They have a pancake machine that resembles an Easy bake oven. The fresh pancakes it made were very good, and it was fun to watch! The hotel also provided scrambled eggs, toast, and bagels with a breakfast meat. Oatmeal, 2 different cereals, and fresh fruit were also available. Just go early. Breakfast ends at 9 am sharp. Know before you go!

The fee quoted for a single room was $65.78. with tax. I was charged an additional $15 for parking which is absurd because I am sure nobody walks there!! It should be included in quote. Small room no microwave,no coffee machine. Room was clean, bed was comfy. Final amount charged $81.67

I recently spent a Saturday night at TRU by Hilton in Deadwood. The Double Tree was booked so I decided to give TRU a try. it is connected to Cadillac Jack's ******, just like the Doubletree and was half the price. It is bare bones but it was very clean and quiet. I enjoyed my stay and if on a budget I would highly recommend staying here. Friendly staff as well.

We were very disappointed in the breakfast. Eggs and sausage cold, both pancake machines were faulty. One of them the entire side of pancake was raw, the other machine cooked pancake a little better, but still raw. Orange juice and Apple juice drinks were out of order. Then to have to pay a parking fee plus sales tax on the parking fee, is ridiculous!!! It cost you a total of $15.88. You get back $15.00 in free play, plus a few other perks. But you are paying a Motel fee also. You park in the regular lot, that anyone ******** can park in and not get charged anything. So you are penalized for staying in the Motel and parking your car. I will give kudos to the Staff working the Cadillac Jack Players Club. They were very friendly, cheerful and very attentive.

Minimalist and modern room, I wouldn't say cozy by any means, but it's fine. Beds are like two steps up from a pull out couch mattress. An actually generous amount of complimentary soap, shampoo and conditioner. Staff is great though, nice, friendly. The have a cool balcony patio with a fire pit. It has a great view of the hills. The breakfast was probably one of the best complimentary breakfasts over any other hotel I've stayed at in a long time. There's a fun looking game room that would be ideal if you had a friend group or kids.
