Elk View Inn

Stayed 3 nights in the rustic cabin. Everything was exactly has described and pictured. After staying at an airbnb prior, we thought, “let’s bring our own fry pan and spatula” which was a great idea; but that’s if you’re picky about what you’re cooking with. Check in was super easy, everyone we talked with was nice and informative, answering all of our tourist questions. We rented UTVs for 2 days. Having had prior experience in UTVing, we didn’t need too much of a lesson on the how to’s, but things were gone over thoroughly. I had a lot of questions for someone who knows the area, everything and more was answered! We ate and drank at the bar too. The bartender was amazing with service and finding something for the particular drinker to drink. Yes, prices were a smidge shocking, but what do you expect when you’re in the middle of a mountain with a minimum of 30min drive to any sort of civilization? With that being said, if you’re not prepared to be essentially “off grid”, don’t stay here. Overall, our entire experience was amazing. We will be back!! The owners are great people, and the sights alone out across the property is enough to want to go back!

Such a stunning setting! This property sits right on top of a mountain and looks out at a forest, a meadow and more rolling hills, all at around 8,000 ft above sea level with roaming wildlife, including Moose, everywhere!. The owners, Heather and Steve, bent over backwards to make our stay comfortable and doable with 15 family members meeting for a family reunion. Some of us stayed in the main cabin, some in the camping area and some in the Inn. We have visited this spot in the past and noticed they are making huge upgrades and improvements to the site. It is our understanding that these are new owners and they treated all of us really well and checked on us often over the week. The undertaking of this property was huge and they are rocking it! The food, by the way, was amazing! I would recommend the breakfast bowl! I look forward to the next improvements being made and wish Heather and Steve the best!! Happy upgrading!

Recently under new ownership, this place has come a long way in the past few years! The owners and staff are very nice and provided us with a welcoming, fun experience. The new owners have been coming up here for 30 years and are very informative and know the area very well. Great food, great drinks, clean rooms, and overall great service. The ATV rentals are a great way to explore the area with the family.

Don’t stay here. Saw this inn on WY BDR video and wanted to support it. Stayed Sept 7th at full price. Nobody there, key in box, restaurant and bar not open, pool not open. Had to go to Bear Lodge for dinner and beverage. Room nice but full price was a rip off. Don’t support.

We had 13 adults renting 6 rooms for 5 days - very expensive. No refrigerator or microwave in rooms. No ice machine - had to buy ice, no pop or vending machines, very poor Wi-Fi, game room didn’t have equipment to play the tables, pool and hot tub have been down for years. Some of our rooms had very little hot water or water pressure, toilet would constantly run. The air conditioning units didn’t run as they should have. No maid service during our stay. Asked for towels early evening and we were told we had to wait till 9 am the next morning. We were very disappointed in our accommodations and lack of service from the owners. We will never stay here again.

We were very hesitant based on ALL the negative reviews we read on Trip Advisor and to be honest, there is plenty of upgrades that are needed to this place. Our understanding is, the new owners purchased from a parent who badly neglected the place, but he is gone. The owner couple is very involved and works hard to accommodate guests needs. The food is good and as long as you reach someone during working hours, they take care of you. The big problem that is nobody’s fault is, the lack of staff. The bartender seems to be taking shots (or something) while working and gets flustered quite easily. They need help! That being said, no workers mean less overhead so hopefully a lot of these updates will be taken care of next year when we come back. Plus, if the pool hasn’t worked in years, don’t advertise that you have a pool/hot tub. Cuz they haven’t worked in anyone’s recollection. I will go back but I hope the pool and hot tub is fixed next year. Maybe trade the recliner for a mini fridge?
