Mike's Dauin Dive Resort

This is a cozy little resort. Located directly on the beach in Dauin. Perfect for Divers. No luxury. But the rooms are quiet and clean with AC. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The restaurant is small with limited choice, but the food quality is very good. They have every day a special dish of the day. The dive shop of the resort has good, well maintained equipment. They run two dive boats (a small speed boat for small groups and a big wooden traditional Philippine vessel - both are in very good condition) and do regular trips to Apo Island (which is a 45 minutes boat ride per direction). But also the locale dives are good choices. The dive masters know the sites and the marine life perfectly well. I have done 300+ dives all over the world. But they were able to show me something new on almost ever dive. Remarkable. The whole boat crew is very supportive and really takes care of their diving customers. Mike has put together a great team, which makes you feel at home from the very first minute. I enjoyed every moment of my stay and will come back for sure!

Perfect low key resort for divers. The house staff are wonderful and the dive guides and boat crew expert and very helpful. The dive boat is a big traditional wooden outrigger, funky and surprisingly seaworthy. It was very windy while I was here, but we made it to Apo Is. for 3 dives, all good. Exciting trip home, slamming into the weather. Highlights of the inshore muck diving include frogfish and flamboyant cuttlefish.

This was my first stop on a three week die trip to the Philippines. I flew into Cebu International Airport, stayed the night in the Waterfront Airport Hotel and then flew to Dumaguete from Cebu which was very quick and convenient. MIkes is a really great place to stay with excellent food, especially the daily specials and the a la carte breakfast. The rooms are great and the pool just perfect. Like everywhere else in the Philippines the staff were delightful. My guide, Ace, was an amazing spotter and so friendly and kind. The manager, Chester, was so quick and efficient with replies to emails before I arrived. What really gives the warm friendly vibe is divers love so much is having a friendly owner or manager who is interested and mixes and talks to people. Chester did this beautifully, doing a round of the tables at breakfast and often again at lunch to chat to guests. The diving was superb, Apo was fantastic as always, but I really loved the macro dives on the coast. There were masses of big turtles everywhere, all looking very happy and well fed. We also did really well with frogfish, sea horses and many many nudis. The weather was really good for January, there was one morning of rain only in a week. But the currents on the surface were very strong. The Captain made great efforts to avoid dive sites with a lot of current underwater and succeeded. But this is apparently the norm in January. Highly recommend this dive resort.

We had the pleasure of spending 4 nights at Mike’s Beach Resort in Dauin, and it has been a highlight of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the cleanliness and beauty of the resort – the grounds were well-maintained, and the ambiance was peaceful and inviting. What really set this place apart, though, was the exceptional staff. They went above and beyond to make our stay feel personal and special. Whether it was remembering our names, making arrangements, or simply accommodating our many requests, they truly made our experience unforgettable. Their attentiveness and warm hospitality made us feel like we were among friends, and we can’t thank them enough. Our dive team, Jonathan and Gabby, were outstanding—they took time to get to know us and personalize our diving excursions. The bar staff, Nathan, Jessa, and Leah, were also wonderful, friendly and kind! They also had amazing food! Last but not least, the property manager, Chester, was absolutely fantastic. He personalized all of our arrangements throughout our stay and was very attentive and accommodating. He even took time to call our upcoming hotels to make sure we have what we need throughout our trip. In our many years of travel, we have never had such amazing support and assistance! If you're looking for a relaxing and memorable stay with top-notch service, Mike’s Resort is the place to be. Highly recommended!

This has been the second consecutive year that we have stayed and dived at Mike's Beach Resort. Congratulations to Chester for ruling this hotel with such attention to detail. Diving with Gabby and Ace was awesome. All the staff were attentive, including Victor, the captain of the bangka boat, as well as the boat crew. Comfortable rooms and a good restaurant.

I always liked this place because the ambience is peaceful, the beers are cold and the food is good (even though is little bit pricey as anyone can expect from a resort) and we have been visiting the place several times from the last 8 months. I think we have been here around 5 times, always eating and drinking while reading a book or just chilling on the hammocks. We was always informed by the staff that we will not be charged the p200 entrance fee as long as we consume food or drinks for more of that amount, and we have been always doing that. But today we was there from 1pm to 4:30pm and we decided, before our lunch, to take a dip on the pool. Then we ate and drink as always. Our bill was p1220 but when i ask for the final bill, they charged also p400 as "entrance fee". I was surprised and let the waitress know that we was informed before several times that we wont be charge the entrance fee as long as we consume enough, but she said that we swim at the pool and therefore, there is p200 per head fee. Well, i find this unfair because we was never informed that swimming at their little pool, which we had to clean from leaves by the way, would be a reason to charge. All the resorts, or most of them at least, deduct the entrance fee from the bill, as consumable, or simply dont charge it if the customers bill is up to a certain amount. First of all, there should be clear information about their policies, these seems to be random. And second, they should inform guest always that dip on the pool will get you charged, no matter if u eat/drink at their resto or not. They got my p400 entrance fee but lost a customer forever. Our bills was always over a thousand, i dont go there to abuse their space, but to pay for it.
