Our stay at Amaru Colonial Stay was a mixed experience, with both delightful and challenging aspects. The central courtyard is a standout feature, with an incredibly attractive garden that provides a peaceful and picturesque setting for relaxation. Our hostess, Brisas, was a true gem. She was friendly, very helpful, and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, our interactions with another host, a man whose name we didn’t catch, were less pleasant. He was not as friendly and didn’t make us feel as welcome, which was disappointing given the otherwise warm atmosphere of the place. The breakfast staff, on the other hand, were fantastic. They were attentive and made sure our eggs were cooked to order each morning, adding a personal touch that we greatly appreciated. Another highlight was the availability of hot mint tea 24/7. This little convenience made our stay much more enjoyable, especially after a long day of exploring. However, one significant downside was the hotel’s location. Situated uphill, it required quite a bit of effort to reach, which can be a challenge, especially if you are prone to altitude sickness. The climb exacerbated our symptoms, making it a less than ideal location for those sensitive to high altitudes. In summary, Amaru Colonial Stay offers a charming environment with a beautiful garden and excellent breakfast service. Brisas’ hospitality adds a lovely personal touch, although the less welcoming demeanor of another host detracted from the experience. Be prepared for the uphill climb, which can be tough, particularly if you’re affected by altitude sickness.
