Amherst Shore Country Inn

We enjoyed our one night stay here. The room was comfortable & the dinner was excellent. In fact, it was an exceptional dining experience. Breakfast was also good.

My wife and I first visited Amherst Shore Country Inn over 30 years ago and have returned a number of times since including in August, 2024. While from the outside the original inn is not that imposing, the rooms inside are comfortable, but there have been more options added over the years including chalets which are quite spacious and modern. The suites in the inn include a gas fireplace and jacuzzi tub with a separate room for watching TV or accessing popular apps. The grounds are quite extensive and include several large vegetable and herb gardens which supply the dining room with fresh ingredients. The shore here is very similar to parts of PEI with red sand and mud in places. However, what really makes a stay in this place is the three course evening meal. These need to be booked in advance and include two choices of appetizer, main and dessert. We have never had anything, but top quality meals here. The fresh vegetables are always outstanding including beets, potato, tomato and broccolini at our last meal. Desserts usually feature local products like blueberries or strawberries. What strikes me most about the Amherst Shore Country Inn is just how consistently good the experience is here over an extensive period of time. Many other Nova Scotian inns have come and gone or gone downhill, but not this place.

I loved that you can drive down or walk to the beach from your unit. The beach was equiped with chairs and table and also a gazebo. Very nice. The owner was very accomodating and pleasant. Everything was great! Thank you

We just spent an overnight at Amherst Shore Country Inn, and were delighted with the experience. The room was charming and captured the style we remember from living in the Maritimes for 25 years. The food was perfect. We had salmon poached with capers and lemon, the chef got it just right! The salad was of lettuce leaves from the inn's garden and local strawberries -- so much tastier than anything from a supermarket. The grounds are extensive, the view magnificent. The service in the restaurant is attentive as well. A great place to stay on the Northumberland Strait.

Beautiful place for nice walks to the beach. Five stars on the meals, especially breakfast. Quiet room and very comfortable. The staff bent over backwards to be helpful. Loved the stay and hope to return next year!
