Ockenden Manor Hotel & Spa

The Spa Suite room was lovely and comfortable with lots of space outside for relaxing on sun beds. The Spa itself was well stocked with towels, robes and flip flops and clean. The pools were well maintianed. All the staff were very polite, happy and helpful. The food was excellent. I also enjoyed a wonderful facial.

We had a fantastic stay at Ockenden Manor. The hotel & our room were so tastefully decorated, with very little grey in sight, how refreshing! All of the staff went above & beyond. There was a technical hitch with our 3rd party voucher which was sorted out professionally without any hassle for us. The facilities in the spa are 100% and everything is clean and very well maintained. Our evening meal was also 5* and we will definitely be back.

We've eaten here many times but this was a first time at the spa. It was early in the week and therefore very quiet. The indoor/outdoor pools were the perfect temperature for us nd being able to swim through from one to the other, a bonus. Indoor and outdoor jacuzzis were relaxing. An excellent sauna with ice shower right beside it was a combination of pleasure and endurance - loved it. Steam room. Tea/coffee/water on tap. All very relaxing. Warm unfussy welcome and a very enjoyable experience all round. The dining afterwards was pleasant enough (as it always has been). The menu wasn't particularly broad but all the options were tempting enough and delivered on taste. I do prefer more informal dining but the service was friendly enough. I know restaurants have to make a mark up on drinks but paying three times as much for a sussex beer than I do 200m away in the village does grate. Overall, a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

On recommendation my partner and I booked a last minute get away to Ockenden manor on a Sunday night (Feb 2nd) B&B offer of £232. We stayed in the delightful cozy room called Timothy which is located above the office at the front of the building and a gloriously quirky little room with very comfortable bed it was too. On arrival we were informed that we had use of the spa which closed at 9pm. As we arrived late we didn’t make use of that offer but thought it was a lovely extra. We didn’t have dinner but we did have a few drinks and nibbles in the snuggly tiny bar area. We were well attended by a nice friendly young lady. As we were about to retire to bed we noticed a little sign at the desk notifying guests that there were a couple of spaces available for a massage the next day. I soon booked this! Next morning we enjoyed a modest but tasty cooked breakfast alongside a well stocked buffet. After vacating our room at 11am we made our way to the Spa to relax before enjoying a most superb treatment given by a lady called Molly. We will most certainly be back

Not enough people read the bad reviews because my issue echoed a lot of them on here. This hotel is over rated, over priced. The shift manager was managing the hotel, doing the bar and the restaurant server. His English was poor and people had to go to reception to order a drink at the bar. If you want to charge a lot then offer proper service with enough staff on. We had to get other guests to check how cold our room was as the shift manager did not want to get us a heater or move us until we all had to gang up to argue with him to move us. Receptionist refused to get involved and that's in her words. We were finally moved after we had our dinner, so had to move all or stuff after 5 hours of pleading with the manager. Explained this to general manager next day who insisted he was going to look into it.....after taking our money and offering feedback by email to which we never received. Go to a near by spa hotel with better service and less money and avoid this sham of a hotel trying to be upmarket with cheap service and no doubt underpaid staff who have to do more than one job on site. Spa side however is good and staff there helpful.

Lovely old place in pretty village with modern spa building. Staff were excellent and really friendly. Accommodation is exceptional, beds comfy and everywhere very clean. Food was disappointing though. If we stayed again we’d eat out in one of the excellent pubs nearby. Breakfast was nice but the full English was again a little disappointing. The real sting is the 12% service charge on everything you order. It is optional but it’s there. Shouldn’t be! Yes we had a lovely time, yes it was expensive, the food experience didn’t match the accommodation and staff service. Need to up the game in the kitchen then it’d be worth the 12% tip.
