Crooklands Hotel

The hotel is very clean and has a big parking lot.

A surprisingly large, comfortable and modern hotel, given its quiet, rural location. A pleasant experience all round The only thing I could fault was my breakfast scrambled egg, which was very watery and seemed to contain pieces of chopped up boiled egg - both white and yolk see pic).

Stayed here for one night on our way south and were delighted with our stay. The hotel is lovely to look at on the outside and our room was huge with a superking bed which was very comfy. Staff were very nice and the food was fantastic with generous portions. Will definately be staying here again when in the area

The place is very clean and well kept and most of the staff were friendly. Unfortunately our waitress (the older lady) was quite rude. Upon ordering drinks my partner asked for coke with no ice then changed his mind immediately and asked for blackcurrant and lemonade with a little bit of ice. The waitress said "what?! What's the difference between having I've in one but not the other" She completely caught him off guard and he just looked really sheepish and said "I don't know sorry" she said "just seems abit stupid to me" ...... extremely rude and unprofessional. Why does it matter to her if he does or doesn't have ice in his drink?! We ordered the meat duo dinners. The meat was nice. The gravy was terrible. Completely see through and only a dribble of it. Had to ask for another jug. The meal as a whole was completely bland and I find it unusual that there's no mash on what is essentially a roast dinner. We had no table check to ask if the food was okay. We were finished for roughly 15 minutes and nobody had come to clear or plates so eventually we stood up and walked to the bar to ask if we could pay our bill. Guy serving at the bar was great and seen to our bill straight away. Very polite and helpful with sorting that promptly. I'd have probably given 3 stars for the food (it was hot and cooked to a reasonable standard just plain and really lacking all round) however I'm giving it a 1 star because we were made to feel uncomfortable. The waitress even snapped at my partner for asking for mint sauce when we ordered our food saying "you can't order that yet, you have to wait til the foods here" I worked in the service industry in a very well established restaurant for over 7 years so I'm fully aware of the basic level of table manners needed when serving guests. We were nothing but polite during our visit but we won't be back.

Lovely hotel. All staff were very friendly and made us feel really welcome. Room in the annex had been renovated recently and was amazing. bed, bathroom, furniture and carpet still looked new. The bed and pillows were very comfy. Decor of the hotel was stylish and the food delicious. In fact we couldn't fault anything at all. Lovely quiet area as well. Would stay here again if in the area.

Myself and a colleague stayed here for a night as it is our companies 1st choice of hotel in the area. As always, the staff were welcoming, well presented, helpful and friendly. We dined in the bar and had hallumi and pepper skewers accompanied with a delicious Chilean wine. The rooms were very comfortable with walk in shower and very comfortable beds. Everywhere is well kept and the standards are high. We would always recommend staying here

Once again ( for the Nth time ) we held our annual dinner for the Lancaster Canal tripboat crew ( for our boat Waterwitch) My wife and I stayed overnight with other friends and colleagues. The 3 course dinner was excellent with great choices for each course. As ever , the friendly and efficient service was brilliant with 18 meals served quickly and accurately, including the special requests. We have used this hotel frequently for entertainment evenings like the above , and also for corporate training days . Since the current owners took over the standards have gone to new heights , the food is excellent ( and I worked in the hotel trade as a chef in my younger days so I am speaking with authority on the subject) Excellent work Rob , we will be back operating trips ( just across the road) on the canal with Waterwitch next Spring, and we look forward to enjoying your hospitality in 2025 Ian Treanor Boat Manager Lancaster Canal Trust

We were one couple amongst 6 couples and all of us were very impressed by the standard of our spacious rooms and the care all the staff took. The food was of a good standard and very good value. Deservedly busy in the bar and restaurant but all ran well with minimal queuing. Even laid a table in the bar for us and another couple to have breakfast with our dogs. Big car park and well positioned to visit the lakes and the dales only a few minutes off the M6.

Went for lunch, I had the steak, ale and mushroom pie, which came with chips. I am not at lover of chips and normally have fries, the chips were excellent. My wife had the small roast which came with turkey and beef, not sure what was small about it, there was plenty of it. The pint of draught Brown Ale was an excellent accompaniment.
