Baldwin's Guest House Cozumel

I lucked out on being the only guest as low season approached at this lovely relaxed BnB. Hannah was a gracious and lovely hostess. Because of her generosity in giving me a ride to the dive shop with all my gear, I was able to land at the airport and be at the dive shop and on the dock a mere hour after landing. The house is very close to the airport, I was the first to be dropped off by the shuttle bus ($13). The house is about 10? blocks from the seafront. It doesn’t take long to walk. Depending on your pace between 15-20 leisurely minutes. I found it more convenient to stay here due to walking access to the seafront with the choice of restaurants compared to my previous trip where I was further south. Also there are restaurants within a few minutes from the house. It’s a residential area and quiet so you won’t get the hoards of cruise visitors found on the seafront area. The room was very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and the hot water came on quickly. There is housecleaning during the week so I came back to a made up bed during my stay, and swept floors. It was the perfect 4 day stay for my dive trip. Hannah made delicious breakfast on the days I didn’t have a morning dive. She offered to prepare light fare on the morning dive and I opted not to eat before the dive but if you want something, you should mention it. Breakfast was fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs prepared in different ways, hot venerate of your choice and wonderful conversation with Hannah. I’d recommend this place if you want a home stay experience. The dogs were lovely too. I didn’t use the pool as I was out diving most of the day but there is one. Highly recommend for sure.

We stayed here 4 nights as part of a much longer birding trip around Mexico and Belize. The B&B is set in grounds with some nice trees and shrubs, a pleasant swimming pool and an outdoor bar / kitchen area which guests can use. But there was lots of dog poo around the garden and it was rarely picked up. The kitchen wasn't very clean. The location is good, c15 min's walk to the town and with a few restaurants, shops and bars nearer. The rooms are nicely finished in wood, with colourful ceramics, air con, a fan and a clean bathroom and bedding; but there was a lot of dust elsewhere. The shower ran cold after a short time and the flow wasn't very strong. We had booked well in advance, but a few days before we were due to arrive, the host contacted us and said she had made a mistake and we needed to change rooms part way through our stay. We agreed to do this but when we were there, we were given no warning, and came back to our room to find belongs moved to a new room. It wasn't until later that we were given details of the new room and then we found lots of our belongings hadn't been transferred and we had to go and retrieve them. Then after settling in, we couldn't lock the door and had to call the host who seemed somewhat inpatient to respond and assured us that there was a knack to locking it. She showed us, and I simply pushed the door gently and it opened. She tried again, and the same thing happened. She asked one of the long term guests to fix it and he tried but couldn't and then she offered us a different (better) room, which we accepted. Two days later the maintenance man was still trying to fix it. The place is full of dogs and they're not very well controlled. One in particular , persistently jumped up at us when we arrived and the host seemed unable to stop it (it calmed down a bit later). Another jumped on our bed and the host made no attempt to stop it. Breakfast is served for everyone at 08.30 (no flexibility) and everyone is encouraged to sit around the table and have a chat. It was a minimalist affair, eg a tiny portion of (egg) tortilla or a fried egg (with nothing else) and a small bowl of chopped fruit and yoghurt. Not a slice of toast in sight! Wifi was poor. There was too many negatives here to score it above average.

It had been awhile since we had stayed in a B&B where part of the fun is getting to meet other guests and share stories over breakfast. We simply loved the cast of characters who were staying at Hannah’s place. Hannah is a delightful host who went out of her way to accommodate my many requests to make my wife’s birthday a special one. It is such a different experience than one would find at one of those fancy beachside hotels - and we were so happy to have found this gem.

This was our first time at a B&B and why did we wait so long. Hannah was the best host, breakfast was excellent, and the room was good. We made three new friends with her dogs, they were great! Street out front was a little busy, but it calmed down at night so no issues. Would I stay again, an outstanding YES! The flowers are pretty and you have basically private pool as there were only a few other quest there. We were able to walk to a few places while there, very safe. I think our favorite was Mister Taco about 1 ½ blocks away. It was great! Casa Mission wasn’t bad, but there are better places for the money. I’ll say it one more time; Hannah was a great host so I would defiantly return. Thanks Hannah!

A lovely home with beautiful grounds! Located is a cute area with yummy restaurants within walking distance. Hannah is warm, welcoming, and helpful. She went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

I stayed at Baldwin’s Guest House for a week and cannot wait to go back! The grounds are beautiful, the accommodations are clean and comfortable, but the best part of my experience was the time I spent with the property owner, Hannah. She went out of her way to make me feel welcome which was very much appreciated as I was a solo traveler for this visit to the island. The property is lush with an array of fruit trees and bougainvilleas making it very private and oasis like. The pool is refreshing and clean with lounge chairs in the shade. There is also a roomy outdoor bar area with plenty of seating. The guest house is located a block from Casa Mission restaurant - a local and tourist favorite. There are other restaurants nearby as well as a convenient store and cabs are easy to catch to explore this breathtakingly beautiful island. This was my first time to try a B&B in Cozumel and I’m so glad I did! It was a truly relaxing experience to be away from the hustle and bustle of town and crowded resorts. I am not a breakfast eater but I love my coffee and Hannah graciously prepared all the fixings needed so I could have a fresh cup every morning. Amazing!! My apologies, Hannah, for the late review.
