Cowra Motor Inn

From the photos on the motel’s website, there appear to be varying standards of rooms. On our visit we were allocated a room at the lower end of the range. We found it had not been cleaned thoroughly and when we approached the manager we were given another although the quality was only a little better. The rooms appear to be partially refurbished but there were elements of cleaning that should never be excused. One example in both rooms we experienced was that the air conditioners had not been cleaned as both emitted a terrible odour when used. On a more positive note the bedding was good and the shower had good pressure and hot water. A small continental breakfast was supplied although we were unsure as to how long it had been left in the room as the plastic wrapped bread was not fresh. Car parking can be a little tight if you want to be close to your room. Overall, a disappointing booking. Motels can be old but they can be presented in better condition than this motel given that the pricing is only just below much better establishments.

What a surprise this Motel was. Perfectly clean, lots of basic essentials, including light breakfast food. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. Situated close to the Main Street, with a variety of eating options. We ate at the Hotel,a five minute walk. Good value for money.

This motel is located off the main road, which is one of the reasons we picked it as the highway through Cowra carries trucks all day and night. It's definitely a budget option but some improvements have been made. But the rooms are tiny, and the layout of the bathroom is odd (long and narrow). That said, the bed was comfortable and we were only there for one night. Basically good if you're passing through, but I would look elsewhere should I find myself in Cowra again.

Lovely small unit that served our needs. Comfortable bed with plenty of pillows and blankets if needed. Very clean and everything we needed for breakfast. Bonus microwave in the room. Only negative was only one knife and one plate for toast for two people. Was not a bother as we shared. Water was lovely and hot and pressure of the shower was amazing. We would definitely stay again.

Upon check-in, the manager there ‘Nicole’, was only too happy to give me helpful suggestions of where to dine and had given me a ‘Motel Guest Card’ which entitles me to a $5 discount, should I choose to dine at the Cowra Bowling Club – that was a very nice offer (there are many other cafés and restaurants to choose and all within walking distance), Nicole also suggested attractions to visit during our stay. Cowra Motor Inn was clean, comfortable and within walking distance to town - there is a nearby Coles store (approximately 3-minute walk) via Macquarie Street and Cowra Bowling and Recreation Club (approximately 7-minute walk)… plenty of free off-street parking, if you choose to drive. Included in the price of our accommodation, you also receive Continental breakfast (2 x packets of hot chocolate powder; 2 x bowls of cereal; 2 x packets of biscuits [2 biscuits per packet]; teas / coffees all in the cupboard and in the fridge, you will find a small carton of milk; a bowl of mix packets jams / honey / butter and four slices of bread), free Wi Fi, free pay TV (in selected rooms only), there is a pool on site and laundry service. I only stayed there overnight, as it was a pit stop for us, heading to Parkes. The first thing we wanted to do, was to visit the Cowra Visitor Information Centre, which was approximately 15-minute walk. The room also offers air conditioning, a refrigerator, the necessary kitchen appliances and complimentary soaps, shampoo and conditioner. The room we had, was recently renovated and you have a free parking space provided on the premise. We have found that the Continental breakfast was very satisfying and a good idea to have a hassle-free start to your day. Our stay at the motor inn was comfortable, relaxing, enjoyable and most of all peaceful, as it is located off the highway. If I had to fault the room, it was the bathroom, as it didn’t have a shelf to put your toiletries on, but the floor worked perfectly and we were only there for an overnight stay, so it suited our needs, regardless and all the comforts were there. I highly recommend this place, budget-friendly, convenient, quiet and very close to town.

After last minute change of travel plans due to road closures we were able to secure the last room at this motel and found our accommodation was good. The room was great value and the continental breakfast satisfying. Nicole is very helpful and only too happy to offer dinner suggestions when you arrive.

Very, very disappointed with our room. It was like a jail cell. Couldn’t unpack because no shelves or drawers. Single wardrobe. Hanging space only. Two upright chairs instead of bedside tables. Bathroom minute. One very small washbasin with a small glass shelf above. No bathroom cabinet so nowhere to put anything. Paint peeling from the ceiling in the room. When we spoke to the owner her response was “oh well, people didn’t expect much in the sixties”. Breaking news! This is not the sixties. The accommodation at the Cowra Motor Inn was part of a package provided by Central West tours to the Elvis festival in Parkes. There were over 100 people booked for the tour and rooms were distributed between three motels in Cowra including the Cowra Motor Inn. The majority of guests had booked through a company called ‘Starts at 60’. Needless to say they got the best rooms. In my view this was done deliberately because the owner is looking for more business from this company. See photos below showing the difference in the quality of the rooms.
