Tribe Paris la Defense Esplanade

酒店很不錯，很乾凈，早餐也不錯的。性價比很高，在巴黎這個價格不錯的。就是房間小了點。3個人住有點擠，沒有拖鞋。

酒店地理位置便利，叫UBER容易定位，周邊步行距離好幾家餐廳，樓下就是超市。房間不大，衞生整潔，床品舒適，服務人員友好。

Do not let the hotel call you a taxi - they work with a company that scams. The hotel called me a taxi for 7am on 4/21. The meter was already running when I got in and it said 38 euros. I thought it was a flat rate to the station. The meter continued to run and I paid 74 euros for a ride quoted at 20 euros with Uber. On my receipt, it said the driver started the meter at 6:36am - 30 minutes before we actually started driving.

Their lobby can get crazy in the morning since their breakfast area is also in the same area given that their lobby is kinda small. Their room is updated, clean and also small. We had quite a struggle in their weeny closet. We had problems with their sink but thankfully the hotel was able to send someone to fix it even at past 8:00 pm. They only provide one square pillow and their bed is a big high but comfy.

Althought the check-in experience as very good, that's sadly where it ends. The rooms was small (typically Parisien small, I get that) but none the less it was functional. I reported a problem with my air conditioning being set permanently to hot to the front desk. The person I spoke to was extremely dismissive, and basically told me they cannot do anything about it. The setting are locked and everyone's room will be the same! He didn't offer to come and check, or find me another room. It was gone midnight and I was unable to sleep as it was so hot in my room! I had pre-paid for breakfast in my rate. The breakfast offering was shocking. Very little left, bread to toast, and no toaster. Only 3 hot items, all of which had no description (very little care for allergies!) and some fruit, yogurt, cheese, that was about. There was loose leaf tea with no tea pots! Most tables had not been cleaned since the last guest and the ones remotely worth sittting at were missing cutlery. One of the staff members was putting more pastries out with her bare hands, no hygiene considerations at all. I arrived for breakfast around 1 hour before it finished but clearly they just had a large group in who had consumed a lot and the staff could not be bothered to replace it and simply started putting things away around me whilst I was eating. When I checked out, the reception team member asked how my stay was, I told him about the issues and he simply said "I'm sorry about that" and no question was there anything he could to make it right. I forget this is not Hilton in that sense! Really poor experience over and so disappointing for a chain I usually know and love.

La Defense is one of my favourite places to stay in Paris but as my preferred hotel was unavailable I plumped for Tribe, as it’s part of the Accor portfolio. It’s a wee bit of a trek for the RER/Metro station (I like walking so not a problem) through concrete housing estates but I never felt uneasy, no matter the time. I like the funky and modern design and luckily Green is my favourite colour as the bedroom was very Green. Check-in bordered on the rude; I believe he was management and aside from the very cheerful barman the staff were sullen and seemed to see paying guests as a nuisance. Also there is no ramp so you have to carry your luggage up the many stairs to get in. The room was quiet but trying so hard to be chic meant that so much design touches simply didn’t work; there was no iron but rather a hand-held steamer which kept setting the alarm off! I was told there was no ironing board and I hate being crumpled. Also worth mentioning is the bathroom door which is a corrugated plastic type but see through so if you are not staying with a significant other… Beware! Even hanging clothes was a problem as the strange design could only accommodate a couple of shirts. I can best describe the room as slightly odd, a little cold and the service even more chilly. With so many more welcoming hotels in the area I can’t imagine I will be returning. All style and no substance indeed!
