People make places and that is very true of the great staff here. Brilliant reception team, always keen to help in anyway and advise on the area. And Nial, so comical yet professional, a great welcome from him to start the day at the fantastic breakfast spread. Marble Hill is like your own private beach.The Spa is so relaxing with great offers; thank you to Evelyn for being so welcoming and organising extras, and Mags and Eileen for the fantastic facials with latest Red light therapy! The rooms are spacious and comfy with great walk in shower option for my Mum. Planning to return with friends group next time! A special corner of Donegal!

The Shandon Hotel is amazing we were a group of ten celebrating a 50th birthday. The staff couldn't do enough for us. We had to cojoing rooms,they had little treats in each room and a lovely card for the birthday girl. We enjoyed the thermal suite and our treatments were the best ever. We had dinner included in our package which was amazing, the best food ever I tasted. The waitress was also super friendly. The rooms are spotless with the most breathtaking views ever. I have stayed at the Shandon Hotel twice now and I'm already looking into booking my next visit. Look forward to my next visit Regards Lorraine Gallagher

From start to finish we received a 5* service and stay at the shandon hotel. We booked the date night package and I made the mistake of picking the wrong date, a quick call to the hotel and this was rectified for me with no fuss. Upon arrival we were greeted by welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. Our room was upgraded and we received a later checkout time with no fee. When we got to the room we were very happy, the rooms are clean, bright and comfortable with stunning views and very comfortable robes. The little tea/coffee caddy is a nice touch and the vending machine in the hallway makes sure that residents have a vast selection to meet their needs. We enjoyed dinner in Marbles restaurant and my god I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a dinner that would top this experience, from start to finish everything was delicious. Staff were very friendly, service is not rushed nor is it slow, the times between courses were just perfect and the standard of food were second to none. Staff were on hand at all times to provide a quality service. We enjoyed drinks and cocktails in the bar afterwards and there was a two man band playing, staff in the bar were friendly and the atmosphere was great. Breakfast the following morning offered a great selection, everything was cooked nicely and definitely fresh. We were impressed from start to finish with our stay and will definitely return to try out the spa and leisure facilities. Thank you to the wonderful Staff at the Shandon hotel.

Excellent food, service, and views of rugged Donegal, the Shandon never fails. We have stayed here a couple of times and with friendly staff and attention to details, this makes staying here an experience that a lot of other hotels could learn from - we have booked again later on in the year

Stopped at the Shandon for Sunday Dinner in the Bar. Wasn't overly busy when we arrived and where quickly seated at a table for two. Staff were excellent, attentive polite all you could ask for. Everything was going well until it came to ordering the food. My wife ordered of the menu, I asked what the Sunday roast was and the waitress informed me it was roast beef and turkey and ham. I chose the Roast beef. At this stage there was an influx of customer's and it was getting really busy. Our drinks were ordered and arrived at the table. Followed by our main courses shortly after. The staff member quickly left us (it was really busy) I waited trying to catch the attention of a waitress and just gave up and carried on and ate what I had been given. To be honest it was just mediocre quality food. Not what I expect from a luxury hotel. Eventually a waitress asked if everything was OK. I did inform her and she apologised for the error. She also ammend the bill with a discount around €5. We ordered a coffee and a drink to finish off. When the coffee arrived it was stone cold and again was replaced by a waitress to which I was greatful. My criticism is aimed at the hotel and the quality of food. The service from the staff was near faultless. However I am afraid I could not recommend The Shandon Hotel and Spa for dining as the quality of food is well below par.

Difficulty dragging suitcases from car park up steep incline. A hotel employee passed us without offering assistance. Beautiful sea view from our room but room was a bit dated. Went down for a drink, sat on sun terrace. Had to climb steps to get served at bar. Sign on terrace said " bring back glasses and delph when finished". Couldn't use pool as full of children doing swimming lesson. The Spa was locked up, so why there is Spa in the Hotel name, I don't know. Had dinner that night, in the same bar. Lovely young French waitress. Bar was full of male golf tourists. It was like a working mens club. Very noisy, meal was poor. Vegetarian Wellington was just a lump of pastry. Lots of flies about. Nice staff at breakfast but all in all, A bad experience. Won't be back.
