‘Tradewinds’ is a charming fisherman’s’ cottage situated in Customs Court, just off the harbour. This area of Brixham was well known for its smugglers hatches and secret routes passing right under the nose of the old Customs Cottages housing the Customs Officers dating back some 300 years!The cottage is brimming with charm and character including historic sea charts, exposed stone walls and old beams. Tradewinds is a very light, bright and airy cottage built over four levels with two bedrooms (the master with.king size bed and second bedroom twin beds) both enjoying superb harbour and sea views. Tradewinds location is excellent; a real crow’s nest perched over Brixham offering an intimate view of the water’s edge, which is literally 50 metres walk away.Brixham is rapidly embracing fine cuisine and cafe culture, you will find many places to sit and enjoy the harbour views and relax into a slower pace of life. As Brixham is a fishing port many of the town's restaurants specialise in fresh fish and you can regularly find the 'catch of the day' being served. Also, the South West Coastal Path is close to the property, with many other fine local walking areas.Paignton is within easy reach and is one of the most popular destinations for families in the English Riviera. The area has a host of attractions; restaurants, cafes, cinema, beautiful golden sands and the popular Paignton Zoo that will keep the whole family entertained. Seabird Cottage is a charming, traditional Cottage situated in the delightful fishing port of Brixham, It is a great 'bolthole' escape to get away from it all.An authentic fisherman's cottage, it has been modernised to ensure comfort and convenience whilst retaining many traditional features including exposed beams believed to be reclaimed ships timbers and masts.Enter from the street into a cosy sitting room, with multi-fuel wood burner (in additional to full central heating) through to a fully fitted kitchenmade bright and airy by roof windows above. For those who like to cook you will find what you need to try out some new recipes having sourced the ingredients from the deli, butchers and grocers as well as well stocked supermarkets just across the road.For those who don't want to cook, there are many great restaurants just as close and a very nice pub in our street!The bathroom, also on this level, consists of large shower, wash hand basin and toilet.Access to the furnished raised terrace garden outside, is through the rear door and up some steps. In summer, the sun is there most of the day so it is ideal to start with a coffee or to enjoy a glass of wine after a day of exploring South Devon.There are two good sized bedrooms accessed by the winding traditional 'Brixham' staircase, a double bed to the front and two singles in the rear bedroom overlooking the terrace garden.Seabird Cottage is the perfect place to base your holiday to enjoy the delights of South Devon, with seaside walks, sailing, fishing and boat trips, or travel by steam train along the beautiful South Devon coast. Apart from deepest winter the very reasonably priced ferry service goes to the heart of Torquay, Paignton, Totnes and Dartmouth so no traffic or car parking hassle even in the height of summer !If you prefer, you can relax in the town's pubs (one of the best is in our street but has never disturbed us) There are many great restaurants especially if you like fish. You can have a coffee or a cream tea and browse round the shops. Explore the winding streets and numerous 'steps' linking the streets and areas of the old fishing village.. The walks along the coast both towards Berry Head and towards Broad sands along the South Devon Coastal Path (Blackbeard's Trail) are not to be missed. Literally 3 minutes away is the harbour and main high street.
