The Lakes by Yoo

Kingfisher lodge was amazing- so comfortable and everything if not more than we expected. So much to do we sadly didn't have time to do it all. From the hot tub, the cinema room, walks, swimming, yoga, zip lines - and just chilling on the balcony watching the sunset. Our hosts were amazing can't wait to book another stay soon. Thank you so much.

We had a long weekend in the hotel. Overall we had a nice enough stay but we were a bit perplexed by the place generally. It was like it was trying to be a posh centre parcs but missing crucial elements! The interiors were nicely done and the restaurant was pretty with a nice view of the lake. Breakfast was delicious and we had lovely massages. However the following points meant we felt it wasn't worth anywhere near what we paid: 1. Hotel room was not cleaned in the day. No big deal but would have been nice to have more water, clean cups etc and freshly made bed. For the price paid for the room we were very surprised this was not done. 2. No where to get snacks / light lunch. The only place to get food was the very expensive restaurant and that didn't have sandwiches/ cake etc. And not even biscuits in the room! 3. Dinner at the restaurant was not great for the price. Pardon peppers were so undercooked they were crunchy and veg in Thai curry was also not cooked and chicken chewy. 4. Breakfast was supposed to be included but this was apparently limited to £20 so we got a surprise bill at the end as some drinks had pushed us over 5. The jacuzzi was really cold. We really enjoyed our massages and the pool was lovely. We were lucky that all the children left the pool as we arrived. We asked for robes when we arrived and were told we had to get them after our massages. Very odd! So we had to get the ladies doing the massages to get them for us. 6. We rented bikes and enjoyed a little ride. Shame it was not possible to rent for a short time so had to pay for full day rental. We left the site through a gate but it was very unclear from the available maps where we could get back in! All the other gates we tried were for people only and no bikes could get through. A much clearer map is needed making it clear what is in the site boundary and how to get in and out!

Lakes by Yoo have been on my list to visit for a while. I finally managed to go last weekend - and it did not disappoint. The food was incredible, as well as the atmosphere. I couldn’t fault our experience and 100% recommend. An honourable mention to the service as well!

Wow. If I could add more stars, I most definitely would ! I’ve never been anywhere so relaxing with such gorgeous views and lovely food. We stayed in the cosy room, which was right next to the spa, and only a couple of minutes walk to the bar & kitchen. The room was small, and very cosy ! It had a lovely balcony (not overlooking the lakes, but this wasn’t an issue as we spent most of our time walking or out eating) and the whole room looked like it had been decorated very recently, not a paintwork scratch in sight ! The room got quite warm, but luckily the new Samsung heater/air-con system was brilliant. The only thing I’d change about it, is a more powerful shower, but heyho, it did the job ! The spa was lovely, clean and quiet, and the full body massage was one of the best I’ve had. Our masseuse explained what she’d do, told us the products she’d be using, and asked if there were any specific areas she should focus on or avoid, which I thought was a nice touch. One of the chaps on reception showed us round and showed us where the gym, sauna, steam room etc were, and also provided us with complimentary robes and flip flops for the day All the staff we came across were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the other guests were too The pictures don’t do the place justice at all. It’s a lot bigger and more picturesque than you could possibly capture on pictures and videos ! We loved walking round the lakes and admiring the other lodges I’d come back here in a heartbeat

Accommodation was okay, small in space compared to other similar venues that are significantly cheaper The bar and restaurant were lacking in several areas, food was good but service was awful, no straws available at the bar, limited options in terms of drinks list and the restaurant area needs cleaning and light bulb changing Biggest concern was the attitude of the management, shouting at staff and when we asked about dinner we were told there was a supper menu and if we wasn’t happy with that then we were free to and dine elsewhere, unbelievable to hear and when we retold this when leaving, the manager Jason or James ignored the comments and was extremely dismissive

The lakes are beautiful and our room was nicely decorated with drench shower and wildsmith toiletries We had dinner and breakfast in the main bar and restaurant which I have to say was extremely poor service, food was okay we had poached egg with avocado for breakfast and I pizza in the evening so can’t go far wrong. Breakfast service was okay from Ellie but the evening was chaotic which should be embarrassing as it wasn’t busy so no real reason for should a bad experience On checking out we were given lots of guff about change of ownership and a new manager is going to sort it out, on further discussion the new manager was the lady we were served by the night before who was disorganised and barking at the junior staff Overall for the money it isn’t worth it, we have stayed at Forest Holidays in their cabins and had a much better time so sadly we won’t bother returning. I have read the generic replies so please don’t bother with the trite apology asking me to get in touch, just sort out the catering and lower the prices
