Precise Resort El Rompido-The Hotel

Average in all aspect except the courses which were poor. The hotel was clean. Room was of good size but no tea coffee making facilities. Towels have seen much better days, plenty of toiletries but did not use them. Lid of the toilet was cracked. Flooring was rising in the room and in some corridors. My bed springs had gone and it felt like sleeping on a slope. Restaurant was very busy for dinner unless you went at second sitting 21:00 hrs. Staff were very good throughout the hotel. Drinks were very expensive €7 euros a large glass of beer and €14 for a short and mixer. There is a supermarket on site but a can of Coke Zero is €1.80. Water at the bar was €3 for a large bottle. Food was ok but not great. Breakfast was ok not great. Spa was good for a sports massage. Golf courses were simply not good enough in my opinion. Soaking wet from sprinklers overnight. Did not dry out until early afternoon. Greens were bobbly and patchy. Bunkers were dreadful. Many had no sand with weeds growing through what sand there was. Fairways were in poor condition with tree roots patches of gravel on the fringes. It was so bad that there were tufts of different types of grass in the fairway that we could pick clean and replace. Water features and ponds had puddles in the bottom and acres of pond liner in view. There was maintenance ongoing and tees being rebuilt and turfed. Cart paths torn up by machinery. Cart paths on the Norte were torn up or worn out tarmac with dangerous potholes where the path met the fairway. Temporary tees on the fairway in the Sud Course. Play was so slow. Our group let a pair through and we were told off by the marshal for doing so. Three rounds average 5.5 hours each using buggies. A Natural Waterside park abuts the course and there were quite a few mosquitoes! A buggy is essential, some long green to tees especially the 17th at the Sud. You could fly from Faro or Seville but there are many other places to go where the courses are much better.

Good value golf hotel , semi all inclusive ( after 5) which suited perfectly , had a single occupancy double room , smart and comfortable . Well equipped bathroom with both shower and seperste bath , Food buffet style of decent quality lots of choice ,. Two gripes coffee machine in breakfast buffet was never hot , and after dinner there was no onsite entertainment, unlike our previous visit when we had DJ or singer pianist nightly . Understand evening entertainment starts in October ! The Golf onsite is perfect , 2 courses great for societies like ours , courses in great condition , and well looked after ! We booked golf hotel package with GOLFBREAKS , recommend them and this hotel .

I was fortunate to occupy a suite which was really spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean. We played golf each day on both courses which are not for the novice.....they are fairly tough, especially the North course. Food was good with dishes for most tastes and service was excellent. Pool could have been a bit warmer but that is the only criticism I have about this resort. I've been there 6 times over recent years.

Too stuffy in restaurants and rooms. Aircon only sending either warm or fresh air. Central aircon not switched on in April. Ants in room but staff quick to resolve . Nice rooms , comfortable. Ask for a kettle if you like a coffee in morning but take own coffee. Little supermarket for water, milk snacks . Restaurant has two sittings 7pm and 8pm v busy . Buffet style . Food not bad but queue for show cooking. Part all inclusive , drinks after 5pm . Wine 🍷 on table . Service little slow. Quick to remove plates , little too quick . Soup v tasty . Busy with golfing groups , so I wouldn’t recommend for couples in golfing season . Lots of bugs about . Overall staff a bit distant and didn’t make any effort to dunk or look happy in their work . Good maid service .lots of people had issues with room keys , not working . Could do with a better system . Nice golfing facilities .

I had a very enjoyable experience staying here, room was good, restaurant was good, staff friendly and helpful and the courses were great. I saw someone who said the courses were over watered and they probably are a bit but it didn't take away from our enjoyment.

Average - far better other options available in Europe. Hotel was ok. Room a decent size but no tea/coffee facilities and no sign of any complimentary bottled water in the rooms of throughout the hotel/pool. Drinks on site were ridiculously expensive. Lunch at the golf club and Pool bar were good. Main restaurant was hit and miss - we would have eaten out a couple of nights if El Rompido wasn’t such a ghost town. Staff generally ok. Some very nice. Others extremely rude. Lady by the pool bar in particular wasn’t very nice at all. Golf courses were ok however they were ruined by ongoing maintenance work and slow play. First round was over 5.5 hours and we followed a group of 4 who were not fit to be on the course and topped the ball 20 yards off every tee. No sign of a Marshall. 16th and 17th on the South Course are in disgraceful condition. No tee boxes in play. Mud/tyre tracks everywhere and not fit for purpose. Both holes a complete gimmick and shouldn’t be open. They ruined the course and play. North course was nice in places and some good holes but definitely the second course for condition. Longer walk between holes here but not a bad walk on both days. Paths are bit iffy though. Generally condition otherwise was ok but severe over watering in places on both courses and some areas were drenched until mid afternoon. Average age of guests in this hotel are over 65 and with the local area being quiet, don’t expect much fun past 10.30pm. We would not go again and have had much better trips in Turkey and Portugal.

We were a group of 8 lady golfers and we were upgraded to the apartments where we all had our own rooms and bathrooms. As we had booked into the hotel we were able to access all the hotel’s facilities. Unfortunately one of our ladies had an accident and had to go to hospital. The staff could not have been more helpful both at the hotel and the golf course. Thank you El Rompido, we will be back next year.

El Rompido golf resort is a good location and generally it is a good resort for large groups of golfers. Our group has been going to this venue for the last 12 years with one or 2 breaks. 9 times in total. However this year's trip was disappointing for the following. Courses extremely busy 5 hour rounds. Food selection has gone backwards for evening meals for choice and for times. We had requested a pool facing room for the 2 organisers of our trip as the last 2 times we had been given rooms at the bin collection areas. We emailed the hotel and also the golf agent for the request and we where told this would be granted. However on checking in the same thing happened and one of the organiser's ended up with a room at the Bin area. We tried to get this changed but the reception staff were not helpful. This year it was unfortunate as the organiser is the current Club captain of our local club. Very very disappointing this year. We have decided for next year to go elsewhere and take a break from this venue. On reflection we have over the years presented the golf resort with gifts and presents from home and current golf clubs. We do a large collection over the week for the cleaners, bar staff, and restaurant staff. We cannot fault 90% of the staff but this year just wasn't up to standard. Regards S Regan

16 of us Just returned from a week at the resort for a golf holiday.. overall we were very impressed with everything. Rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable with a fridge which was useful could have been better with tea/coffee making facilities rather than having o go to the restaurant every morning to get a drink Some staff were very friendly and helpful whilst some at the bars were a bit unhelpful and not happy at all Pool and areas around the pool were amazing and very tidy, plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas Golf courses had recently been treated so the greens were awful but that’s down to timing I guess but overall they were fantastic condition and a real challenge. Drinks are expensive in comparison €7.00 for a pint of local cheap lager €3.50 in local restaurant and bar Very limited on drinks with NO cider or Ales, I think this is very poor as some of the guys struggled to find something to drink The local town ‘el rompido’i s very very limited on bars and restaurants and any form of nightlife so not much going on there for anyone searching for any form of entertainment Overall great resort but due to limited drinks available and price of them, I wouldn’t return
