R2 Higos Beach

Stayed 7 nights and had a one bedroom apartment which was across the road from the main hotel. Apartment was lovely, modern & well equipped. The balcony was very small though with 2 uncomfortable chairs and table. Could see the sea but sunrise was blocked by another building. I prefer the beach and only used the pool area of this block for a couple of hours one day. Large sunbeds which you can’t move and they get very hot. The pool was taped off the entire time but no idea why. Apart from check in and out which was friendly & 2 visit to the sky bar which was nice I had no other contact with staff and didn’t use any other facilities. I really didn’t like Costa Calma, no heart and very bland and boring. The beach however which is down a small hill was stunning. The restaurants in the resort are just average. The best meals I had were at Dari Dari, looks like a cafe and down a side and no kern appeal but best service and nicest food I had all week. There is a Spar shop not far from the hotel, but the one a few yards further along that road is bigger, cleaner and better. Jet 2 transfers - was dropped off on corner of the road just 40 steps from hotel. For the return the text stated on the corner of the access road which I and others took as the same place. It wasn’t. It’s up the hill up on the main road. Surprised this accomodation is only 3 star, it should be 4.

Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Higos Beach apartments to anyone. We are currently halfway through a 7 night stay and have already booked for next year, with R2 directly. All apartments are great, but if you can, get one with an ocean view… Staff are welcoming and super efficient. Breakfast is of a very good standard, with great choice. Swimming pool is heated more than enough to take the chill off, whilst still a refreshing way to cool down should you need to. As with all areas, it’s very well kept. Gym is spacious and consists of 2 exercise bikes, 2 cross trainer and 2 treadmills, alongside a weigh machine and free weights. Roof top bar is a must! Views are fab and it’s lovely and peaceful. Food & drink at both pool bar & roof top bar is good and very reasonably priced. Surrounding area is fairly quiet, with a selection of restaurants. Would recommend Terraza del gato, which is just a few minutes walk away. Should you wish to eat in, the apartments are all equipped with all the utensils you may need, along with a small combination oven/microwave and a 2 ringed hob. Looking forward to our return journey already 😊 Thank you for a great holiday.

Without doubt their staff are their greatest asset. I suspect they have a comprehensive staff training programme, and it clearly works! Every member of staff we encountered were pleasant and incredibly helpful. Our apartment was huge, as was the terrace. We had sufficient equipment to be self sufficient regarding cooking when necessary. Both the bed and sofa were very comfortable. We had two sun loungers, a table and two chairs on our terrace. The apartment was thoroughly cleaned every two days, with beds changed every 4 days. If I had offer any suggestions for improvement, I would have appreciated more seating in the areas around the pool as not everyone finds sun loungers comfortable for long periods.

The accommodation itself was outstanding - strongly recommend the relatively modest upgrade to get the unit with private pool. The breakfast was generally excellent as well. But there are some management issues keeping this place in the 4 zone rather than a true five. The restaurant and housekeeping staff were excellent but there was a bit of indifference from the front desk (particularly around being responsive about certain requests) and especially the closure of the restaurant and bars after 6pm. There are limited amenities in the immediate area, and no bars as such, which limits the sociability of the holiday experience. Additionally, policies like banning food in the pool loungers and not heating the "heated" pool were disappointing as well. The accommodations themselves are reason enough to stay here. But to get to the next level, the hotel needs to sort these management issues.

Muchos gracias a todos :) Just returned from Higos Beach Hotel after a glorious week of chilled vibes and sunshine in calm relaxing Costa Calma. The hotel is perfection - lovely rooms, pool area, spotlessly clean, everything smooth from the lovely reception staff to the breakfast staff and the kind lifeguard. The staff here are the secret ingredient, they are wonderful - warm, accommodating and very kind. This is a 3 star hotel with a 5 star service. Breakfast too was fresh and delicious with fabulous coffee. I loved everything about Higos Beach, thanks a mil for a fabulous stay 🌞👙🍹

This hotel is fabulous, it is split in 2 and is divided by a road. Our apartment was across the road from the main hotel. Staff on arrival were excellent. We were given wristbands which took a bit of figuring out. But they were fine, you can use these to open your room and pay for everything if you wish. You can also pay cash. The apartment was large, it has a separate bedroom. It was gorgeous, modern, spacious, immaculately clean. There is adequate self catering utensils for 2, with a small amount of washing up stuff already there. There are also laundry facilities in the hotel. The balcony was big with a table and chairs and 2 sun loungers. It had artificial grass. Our room looked towards a small pool which, when I enquired why it was roped off, was told it hadn't yet been commissioned. This was a great shame. The bed was enormous (2 large singles pushed together) but it was very hard. My partner had a sore back from sleeping on it. The bathroom was lovely with a supply of soap and shower gel etc. There were 2 smart TVs but no English TV channels except 3 news channels. Luckily we used the smart TVs for Netflix etc. The main pool is very laid back with great sunbeds. There is also a bar and restaurant but unfortunately the whole hotel closes early in the evening. There is a sky bar which is great with amazing views but it also closes early, which is such a shame. It did have 1 evening where they played music. Drinks and food were expensive in the hotel but also all over Costa Calma. The resort and hotel are German orientated. There is a poor choice of restaurants and we didn't find any great bars. The whole resort is amazingly quiet. This hotel is a short walk to a great beach and a 10 minute walk to the main part of the village where the supermarkets are. The supermarkets had a great choice of foods. All in all a great hotel which was spoiled by early closing. I'd give the hotel 4+ stars. The resort just was not for us, it was depressingly quiet. I would not go back to Costa Calma for this reason.
