Red Lion Hotel Coos Bay

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Took my wife to a little birthday getaway to Coos Bay. We contacted the manager and needed to know if their hot tub was in working order, she told us yes, its definitely working. when we arrived at 4:15 pm our room was not ready, we waited for about 15 min and they gave us the key to a different room. While waiting I checked out the pool and hot tub they were both GREEN as could be, I put my hand in to smell if there was any chlorine and no odor of the chemical. How disappointed we were, turns out all the other hotels know that their pool and hot tub haven't been working for years so we were lied to. Do not stay here as the owners seem to be careless and don't want to inject any money into this hotel. The staff had their children either live there or the parents brought them to work. They all seemed to be high on something. Wow very unprofessional. Our 2nd night was spent at the Best Western, a much better experience.

The service is bad. The beds are ok, but there is alot of traffic noise. We left to go out and meet with friends for the day but when we got back the towels were not picked up nor the bins emptied, etc. The beds were not made. So basically no service was done to the room at all. I had to go request towels to use for the next day. We will not be staying at this hotel again.

My husband and I have been coming here since 1997. It was a clean, quiet, family-friendly, affordable place with a great complimentary hot breakfast buffet. And now it no longer resembles our last 2018 stay! The "breakfast" has been reduced to a granola bar and micro danish in a brown bag. Yogurt and pineapple juice was available in the nearby cooler. The restaurant in the lobby building has closed, no coffee offered here as well. The inroom coffee produced an orange coffee product. Same fee per room, over half of the motel was vacant. The crowd this motel attracts is questionable. In a huge complex with ample parking we were given a room in the back. There was powerful mildew stench when we first opened the door. It would have been nice to open the window to air the room out, but the windows couldn't be opened! The carpet was stained and the furniture was dated. There was a dark wet ring of liquid under the ice bucket and cups. We didn't sleep well with the surly guests next door coming into their room at midnight to 4 am, slamming the door, and having a smoke and loud conversation on the balcony. Two different groups each night who parked their commercial trucks against our car with an entire parking lot to use. They gave us hard looks when we looked out out window, and we didn't feel safe. In fairness, the bathroom was clean, the shower was very nice, and there was plenty of room for travel items. But we left exhausted, more than disappointed, and we will never be back.

Very comfortable and quiet room. Rate was very reasonable. Breakfast was okay. There was a selection of drinks, yogurt and breakfast burritos in a refrigerated cooler that you could help yourself to. There were also pastries. Not set up to sit and eat but it was okay. Our friends stayed just down the street at the Motel 6 for about the same price. This hotel was far superior.

Check in was REALLY slow. It's not close to anything for food so be prepared to drive. The room was big and bath area was nice with two sinks but no garbage can in the bath area?? And the little bottles of shampoo. Good amount of plugs and USB ports, fridge (no microwave) and nice water pressure. "Breakfast" was underwhelming.

They are very helpful at the front desk. Rooms are clean and staff in housekeeping are very nice and professional. They give you doggy swag when you bring your fur babies. Very cool addition. Our pup felt so happy to get treats n toy upon arrival. She took the little toy everywhere with her.

We woke up and the counters were covered by ants. It was disgusting and we immediately packed up and escaped. Front desk women was unhelpful and said they thought our room was ant free. We got out as fast as possible. Sitting at a table in a nearby Starbucks, an ant fell off my wife jacket and crawled across the tabletop. We had to change our travel plans and laundry all our clothes. ********** tried to secure a refund and the management refused. We will never again stay in a Red Lion. Disgusting place!

I was just looking for a reasonably priced room for 1 night that was clean. The pictures made it look that way. I had to sign a paper when I checked in that I would not smoke. As soon as I opened the door, I could smell a strong, but old cigarette smoke. The room itself looked like it had been updated not long ago. New carpet, new furniture, etc... but I assume that smoke has permeated the walls and ceiling from many years of people smoking in the rooms in the past. It was overwhelming. I started to look for another hotel and tried to hook up to their internet. It was showing it was connected, but nothing would open. I was so frustrated. I just left to go get something to eat, and decided to tough it out. As mentioned, the room itself was fine. The bed was firm, and I travel with my own pillow, so I can't comment on the pillows. You did get free body wash, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. On the particular night I was there, I did not find a lot of noise from the parking lot, nor hwy 101. I did not have any issues with the evening or day staff. I did not partake in the 'bagged' breakfast. I guess this is becoming a thing with many hotels. I assume the main reason is lack of staff to prepare and clean up afterwards, but if it saves money, the CEO's will never change it. So if some big wig is reading this, I don't think your customers like paying as much as we do for a room to be given something we can pick up at the grocery store for breakfast. Anyway, I think if I am in the area again, I will try another place.
