Almijara Residence

Full marks to Maurice and Paul at Almijara Residence in Cómpeta. They raise the game for other B&Bs in the area. The Residence itself is a beautifully refurbished town house and we recommended it to friends visiting the area They were delighted with the high standard and comfort of the accommodation and we were fortunate to join them for one of Maurice’s stand- out breakfasts. Highly recommended as a base to explore the beautiful Axarquia.

This was our second stay at Almijara Residence, and we will definitely return. Clean and modern rooms, comfy beds and pillows, outstanding customer service, and rooftop breakfasts to die for. Thank you, Maurice and Paul for another superb stay at Almijara Residence!

As the title says this was a perfect stay in Cómpeta. Maurice is a wonderful host and chef - he made a vegan breakfast for me on request, which was delicious. The B&B is right in the centre of town, just next to the main square. The location is perfect and provided a great base for my short stay in town. The communication before check-in was spot on, as was the check-in experience itself. Within 5 minutes for arriving in town I was greeted by Enca (who is lovely) and shown to my room. The room is small but had everything I needed. The bed was great and I slept soundly both nights. The room had a small Juliet balcony, not enough space to sit outside but great to have this open in the evening before heading out looking down at the vibrant terraces of the restaurants in the square. And with the balcony door shut the room was nicely soundproofed, giving the best of the both. Maurice cooked breakfast in the morning, which was served on the room terrace and he is such a friendly and helpful guy - a real wealth of local knowledge and genuinely wanted to share this and help his guests have the best experience. I would highly recommend Almijara Residence to anyone visiting Cómpeta.

I organised a Wedding Brunch for some dear friends to celebrate their mid week wedding . Maurice went out of his way to decorate the table for us and even left the couple a lovely wedding card and took photographs for us. The 5 course tasting menu brunch was fabulous and so unusual and was accompanied by a delicious bottle of cava. The bride felt so special and it was a magical experience for her with the backdrop of the beautiful church . Thankyou Almajara Residence. Highly recommended.

The Almijara Residence is a gem! The owners and hosts, Maurice and Paul, have created a chic and beautifully appointed place to stay, overlooking a pretty square in the heart of Cómpeta. Our room was delightful; light and airy, with a small balcony overlooking the square, and very comfortable bed. Sumptuous breakfasts were made for us every morning by Maurice and served on the roof terrace, which has beautiful views over the town and surrounding countryside. Without doubt an exceptional place to stay.
