Hotel LIVVO Dunagolf Suites

We were disappointed with our holiday experience at Dunagolf, Maspalomas. This is NOT a 4-star hotel as advertised. When we arrived, there was only one receptionist checking everyone in and we quickly realised the hotel wasn’t up to a 4-star standard. It is clearly no more than 3-star. There was no concierge service to help with luggage, as would be expected of a 4-star. We had to walk with luggage to the opposite side of the hotel. We also had to pay €2 per day for the safe, again, not what we would expect of a 4-star hotel. The room itself was ok, we paid extra for an upgrade to a suite with golf view which was not worth the extra paid. We could see some of the golf course in the distance through a large metal fence but we were looking straight on to a piece of derelict land. The TV isn’t geared for British viewers as there is only one channel in English – Sky news. We were told rooms were only serviced 5 days a week. This isn’t normally an issue but we do like clean towels daily especially when showering often after sunbathing. I asked at reception on the Saturday for two extra hand and two bath towels and I was told we were only allowed one set each day - seriously this is 4-star? I explained they were for the next day when there would be no service and was told quite abruptly to come back tomorrow and ask. We did and we could tell it was grudged. The towels themselves are very small, thin and poor quality. There is only one restaurant which is like a canteen with food to match - again not 4-star quality, although the staff are very friendly and attentive. There is only one bar which is outdoors and that doesn’t open until 12 pm then closes at 4 until dinner at 6.30 pm. On a positive note, the grounds/pool area are very nice and well maintained with a pleasantly heated pool. There was outdoor evening entertainment on a few nights that was enjoyable. If you know and accept what you are getting and understand that it is not 4-star quality then it would be fine for a short break but not if you are looking for anything more.

Service: Some of the stuff are friendly and some are not. When we arrived, the welcoming energy was not nice. A tip to a(female)receptionist: "Welcome" with smiles would not harm anyone. The older senor in the reception was really friendly. Also in the pool bar some of the stuff were really nice (e.g. a younger man) and some others not so much. Hotel area: Hotel area was the best part of this hotel. Really lovely pool area. A lot of sunbeds. Warm water in pools. I especially enjoyed walking around the pool area approx. 300m./round with baby strollers. We walked many times to Playa del Inglés (about 30 minutes)and Meloneras (45minutes). Room: We booked a "superior room". It was quite small with bedroom and small living room area. The couch was so dirty we did not want to sit on it. There were alot of small antz all over the place. The stuff tried to poison them but they came back. The beds were ok. No cleaning until the 3rd day. We had to ask for the pool towels. They are available on 10e deposit/each. Air conditioner did not work until day 3 when a really nice senor from stuff member came to help us with it. Using the safetybox was a puzzle that we solved. :) The "kitchenarea" was bad spaceplanning. The fridge door and toilet door were faced to each other and it was odd. (check photos).I would change the position of the fridge door Also the dishes were down in the cup board which I found weird. The kitchen doors were difficult to open-＞there were no doorhandles! There was only decaf coffee in the room. There could be some racks for hanging clothes in the (living)room. I didnt understand why the only chair was so freaking heavy and (noisy while trying to move it.) Food: Breakfast was amazing. Really nice varioty of foods. 10/10. A Tip: eat by the pool. :) But the dinner was not worth the money, tried once(24e/person including 1 drink). So we ate at the pool restaurant that was open till 4 p.m. It took a while, 30-45minutes, to get the food but it was really good and reasonable price!

Very nice hotel, quiet and out of the way. We have just spent a relaxing week over christmas in one of the suites with a roof terrace, I would recommend paying extra for the terrace if you book. The rooms were a good size and clean, and housekeeping is 5 days out of seven. The pool area was fantastic with plenty of beds and seating areas around the complex. we were room only but paid for the bar meals, which were really well priced and good quality, we had the chateaubriand and it was the best fillet I have had for a long time and was only 32 euros for 2 people. one thing I would say is that if all the rooms had a bar menu in them with prices on then they would probably get more customers eating in instead of going out. If you do want to go out it is a 30-40min walk to any of the main bar areas. There is a decent little supermarket less than 10 minutes away. We did the walk into town early in the day and got a taxi back which were only 7-9 euros and plenty of taxi ranks about. We would definately go back and would rather stay in that area for the peace and quiet and pay for taxis, rather than staying in the centre areas. If you want a great english breakfast go to the Red cow, and if you want a good irish bar try Mulligans, they also do some decent pub grub and has a large outdoor seating area, although that was a bit further round and took us 50 minutes to walk it.

Really lovely complex, modern and extremely clean. Bungalows are spacious and set in lovely palm tree area, ours overlooked the golf course. Very quiet and peaceful. All staff welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Breakfast good - good selection of hot and cold food.

an fantastic hotel, lovely suites with 2 terraces. The breakfast had plenty of choice, for example an nice selection of cheese. The staff is very friendly. We really enjoyed the swimming pool. sometimes we booked half board, the cocktails are fantastic and only 5 euro. The suites are nice clean, we hichly recommend this hotel. 1 tip book a car because it is a long walk to the beach or maspalomas.

Don’t be put off by previous reviews! A lovely complex of bungalows, friendly staff, clean & well furnished. We stayed for 10 days and had a suite with roof terrace over looking golf course ..,, the rooms are perfectly well equipped for a nice modern but no frills apartment. Not equipped to cater a full on dinner party but had a kettle, microwave, electric ring - cutlery, glasses, Plates for 3 , couple of pans. . Toiletries provided in the bathroom. Maid service more than adequate & most days . Towels changed as & when needed. Pools & the area around was well kept, clean & always sun beds available what ever time of day you went ( no towel hogging) Pool bar food / snacks good & can be take out to room. Main areas & grounds recently refurbished. Staff all were friendly & helpful. The let down of the complex is the restaurant area is rather dated looking & didn’t really entice you in to dine there ( we were room only ) so can’t comment on Buffet. No supermarket / mini market on site … Shame but a small one about 10 mins walk away for bread, milk, juice , fresh meats & cheese etc. It is remote from maspolomas - we would not have attempted to walk in in evenings as unlit roads and I would say 45 minutes not very pleasant walk - but it’s 7/8 euros in taxi each way - reception will call one and they arrive within a couple of mins . We enjoyed the stay - would recommend as long as aware of location. For a Quiet, friendly . Relaxing week ticked most of the boxes! .
