Hilton Garden Inn Columbus/Polaris

We stayed here for a Water Polo tournament that my daughter was playing in nearby. We chose the Hotel for the location and the pool. Unfortunately, the pool was closed due to a pump being broken. The clerk let us know the pump had been broken for a while and they didn't have a time frame of when it would be replaced. If this is a reason you are staying at this hotel, I would call to ensure it is fixed. Breakfast does not come with your stay. Only one lady was working it and very overwhelmed. We waited about 15 minutes for one waffle. Lots of stuff empty, coffee, creamer ect. I felt bad for her. They definitely needed at least two people working it. Our room was clean, no bugs, no other issues. We would stay here again.

Listen, this hotel is undergoing renovation. So there are some quirks. Make sure you check that the room type you want is still available, jacuzzi rooms are going away. But the location is great and its beds are significantly better than the others in that immediate area. The flanking extend stay hotels have the negatives of long-term extended stay guests. So this is a great choice if you’re not in town for long and looking for a reasonably priced clean room to stay in near Polaris, I would recommend. The shower did get fire lava hot, after heating up and I needed another blanket to sleep (the AC unit worked exceptionally well). But there are worse negatives at other places. The staff is super friendly. Asha was specifically helpful, but everyone I spoke to was kind. It was a base Hilton experience, but still met those minimum standards.

With the ever increasing prices of hotel rooms the days of getting value under 100 dollars is gone. With that said you expect the place to at least be clean and welcoming. Well this hotel had trouble living up to the bare minimum expectations. The whole place is very dated and the years of wear and tear show. Carpets are dingy and old. Bathroom is cramped and in need of a good cleaning. It looks like some renovations are being done but its only some of the room so you have this weird look and style. The mattress is very uncomfortable and old. Staff was good, no complaints with that. The area has plenty of dining options which is a plus!

All staff members we encountered were exceptionally helpful and competent. I had the continental breakfast at $5 -it was fine- hot and cold cereal, fresh fruit, pastry (although the croissant was stale). The first room we had #108, the refrigerator did not work, We were quickly transferred to room #106. There was no hair dryer -staff quickly produced one! The carpet in the room was frayed, one coverlet on one bed was also frayed. The window covering did not work. Most distasteful of all was the soiled carpet in the corridor outside the room. It had many grease marks etc. It looked as if the soil had been there for a while. We cancelled our future reservation at that hotel! I felt the value received (paid $175 plus tax) was poor.

At arrival, no desk clerk was in sight. Neither was she there when I had a question. And she was not helpful when she arrived back at the front desk. In addition, when I made the reservation there was no notice that the amenities — pool, hot tub, etc — were unavailable. Had there been I would have chosen another Hilton property.

Very clean and updated hotel. My family and I slept well and felt very comfortable. Front desk and kitchen staff (morning)were very friendly. The hotel is in convenient location with places to eat nearby. Note: There is a $5 for continental breakfast per person. If you want more than basic continental there! is up charge.

Where do I begin! Shower floor looks so gross! Maybe a rug was in there previously?? There was ants on the counter by the television. Curtains make no sense at all. Our room was lit up when the sun rose. Very outdated carpet everywhere and dirty. (Running theme). The pool and hot tub closed. Very close to restaurants and shopping, so that’s a plus. Forewarning Quaker State is across the road, a minute walk, and Wednesday is bike and jeep night. Very loud if you don’t like that. Beds comfortable.

Plus: Convenient Location, quiet room, comfortable bed, good water pressure in the shower. Minus: Hotel is somewhat tired, they are doing some renovations (but pool/hot tub are still closed), breakfast was MEH at best (chick-fil-a is less than 1/2 mile away!). Staff is making some effort; price point was good. Overall, reasonable option in the area.

I would have given this place five stars if the pool had been open. After spending all day driving, swimming is the one way to relax and unwind. But..... if you stay here you must walk across the road to Quaker Steak and Lube. Really good food and fun atmosphere.
