It was just by chance we got to experience this home, something’s are just meant to be. Burnette and her magnificent home was an experience you could only dream of. To experience the home is something that will stay with us forever. Burnette’s welcoming and generous nature was a true Southern experience.

Beautiful home and grounds. Beautiful Antiques! Stayed over when visiting my daughter in college at Mississippi State. It’s just a short drive from Starkville. The host Burnette could not have been more accommodating! Highly Recommend

Very comfortable, clean, and quiet. The hostess Bernette is top notch and very enjoyable to talk to. Lots of knowledge of Columbus, cooks really good breakfast treats, and ready to see that you are enjoying your stay. Very good location for walking the town.

Absolutely an amazing experience and stay at a beautiful, historic bed and breakfast. The home was truly beautiful and full of history and interesting antiquities. However, the true beauty in this home was not the home or antique pieces, Bernette, the owner, is the true gem when you stay at Shadowlawn. She goes above and beyond for her guests and truly cares for the people staying in her home. Mississippi is known for hospitality and Bernette epitomizes the spirit of hospitality in Mississippi. When you talk with Bernette, it is like talking with a friend you have known for years. The breakfast she makes is five-star quality and made from scratch. The rooms were very comfortable and well-designed and decorated. We slept like babies. We also were staying during a MSU gameday weekend, and the rates for our stay were great, especially considering the alternatives were very pricey and do not come with Bernette and her amazing personality and attitude. We highly recommend anyone visiting Columbus or Starkville to stay with Bernette at Shadowlawn. We are already looking forward to our next visit to Columbus because we already know where we will be staying, which is Shadowlawn. Why go anywhere else?

Our stay was perfect! Our host was extremely helpful and accommodating in all matters. The bedroom was amazing and breakfasts were outstanding. We would definitely book Shadowlawn when staying in the Golden Triangle

Beautiful restored stately home. Easy access and delightful hostess. Only a few minutes from Starkville and Mississippi State University. We were there for UGA vs MSU football game. We stayed in the small cottage on the grounds of the main house. Certainly met our needs for full kitchen and comfortable bed and amenities. Highly recommend location and surroundings when in the area.

The location is central, yet quiet. Our room was spacious with modern amenities and a generously sized private bathroom. The house is full of beautiful Victorian antiques. Burnette's hospitality was wonderful, and breakfast was a personal yet elegant experience.

The mansion is a true Victorian. Burnette has furnished it (at least) a couple of thousand authentic Victorian pieces. And she is a delight. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this clean elegant place. And the breakfast was equally great.

This was our second time to stay here. We booked for 3 nights originally and added a fourth at the last minute without any problem. The home, filled with beautiful antiques and history the grounds were beautiful, but the best part of our stay was our hostess Burnette. She went over and above what we expected to make sure our stay was pleasant and comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent and we even got to try her new additions one morning. We can't say enough good things about Shadowlawn but it is our "go to" place in Columbus, MS.
