I recently got married at Utopia Feels and regret booking my wedding here. The property is not equipped to host weddings, despite the owner promoting his property on multiple wedding sites as a “DYI wedding venue” for up to 150 guests. When we booked, the owner (Doug) enthusiastically described the future upgrades to his property including 4 new bathrooms/showers, fully equipped outdoor kitchen with chef's BBQ & smoker, bar, and fridges. He promoted 20 acres of land to explore, ample space for additional camping units, ceremony, and yard games. He assured us this would all be ready for season opening in May and for sure by our wedding on July 1st. We visited for season opening and discovered that nothing was done. There were no bathrooms or showers except the one in his basement suite. He tore down the old ones and didn't apply for permits for the new ones in time. There was no outdoor kitchen and the “yard games area” was a patch of dirt/weeds in a fenced pasture with no games. When we expressed our concerns, his response was “people don’t need to shower, it’s just one weekend”. When we said for a wedding they do... he said I guess I can rent some porta-potties. After further discussion that we wouldn’t have booked without them, he finally agreed to provide the RVs that he now describes as “bending over backwards for us”. This is a far cry from bending over backwards when you are charging $7000 and advertising a wedding venue and the "number one glamping site in BC and Canada!" When asked where he recommended we hold the ceremony (because I couldn't see any open areas), he responded “if you need me to plan your wedding, I can hire you a wedding planner.” Completely taken aback by this rude response after booking a "wedding venue" with a video of a perfectly manicured lawn on his website, we discovered that video isn’t actually of his property. We were flexible and agreed that mowing the back hay field for our ceremony would work, however despite repeatedly following up, it was not bailed until the evening before our wedding. His worker then finished bailing it literally minutes after our ceremony while we were taking pictures. Talk about adding stress to our planning and complete disregard for our wedding. When we checked in, the owner was touring his family around the property all afternoon instead of checking us in despite us paying $7000 for exclusive use of the property. There were no towels provided and no one told us where to find extra blankets. It was freezing at night and our guests in the tents froze the first night until we could ask for extra blankets the next day. Instead of taking responsibility for anything, Doug made comments to us about what great value his property was and that “some people just can’t be pleased.” He also called my fiancé during our stay yelling at him because guests were checking out his plant towers. He swore at him saying “get your people under control and away from the towers” and threatened to charg
