Best Western Plus Clinton/Jackson

Unlike several of the reviews here, my wife and I had a nice stay. Super fast check in, room was clean, ice cold a/c and fridge. Pillows and beds gave us a restful night's sleep. Would probably return. Some of the fixtures look worn and could use updating as could the floor we were on, but overall a good value.

The bathroom had urine on the seat and on the bottom of the toilet . The room smelled very musty . We had family staying in another room and their carpet was wet. Neither room had a telephone . I would not consider staying there ever again . This was Aptil 2023.

We use Hampton Inns mostly when we travel. Coming back from FL we booked this one. Sad. Relatively newly remodeled with all the bright colors and minimalist decor….should have been a wonderful stay but was not. Front desk personnel was not friendly (yes, they were busy this night) at check in or check out. The hotel was dirty, with hallways looking like they have not seen a vacuum in a bit and a plastic toothpick found on the floor in our room. Bed was ok and the tv worked, so we slept. But then breakfast…..I only ate toast with peanut butter as I could not think of eating the rest, and the coffee pot ….wondered when it had been cleaned last?? No fruit, these hardboiled eggs were disgusting and the counters were unkept….all in all, not up to the usual Hampton Inn standards. We were definitely one and done here. Sad.

When we arrived, we were greeted by big smiles and friendly attitudes of the front desk staff. That made us feel really comfortable about our stay. We were on the 2nd floor, and unfortunately the elevator was faulty. The safety feature on the door did not work so it forced itself closed even if a suitcase (or a leg) was still in the entrance. Also, the elevator buzzed all the way up and for a minute or two afterwards. We told the staff about this issue. The first person we told acted like she knew nothing about it, even the though the elevator was just a few yards from where she stood. The second staff member explained that the maintenance people were supposed to have shown up the day before, but didn't, and should show up to fix the problem that day. Our room itself was fairly clean, although there were smudges on the metal surfaces and dried red sauce on the microwave door. The most negative aspect of the stay was the breakfast experience. My husband went downstairs around 3:30 in the morning, and the garbage was overflowing from the day before. It was not emptied at all that morning by the breakfast staff. The whole breakfast was a disappointment. There was cereal offered next to a sign that said, "We are out of milk." There was only sugar-free syrup available. In the fruit bowl, there was only three small apples. The brown sugar for the oatmeal was packed down and could not be broken up by the plastic utensils available. We asked the front desk if they had access to regular syrup. Perhaps, because of that, they finally sent out the attendant. The lady came out to restock and service the breakfast items. Apparently, she had brought her child to work with her, as she had a toddler on her hip as she was recovering the breakfast area.

This hotel is filthy and disgusting. The decor is outdated, the wall paper in the hallways is peeling off, the trim around the doors is beat up, and the whole place smells like pine sol. I entered my room and the door was cracked open. The maid had not finished making up the room. There were 4 uncovered pillows laying at the foot of one of the beds. The entry way tiles were sticky and slippery. The carpet in the room was so dirty that I didn’t take my shoes off until I went to bed. I’ve stayed in Motel 6’s that were cleaner and nicer than this sh__ hole. I can’t believe that Hilton let’s this dump put their name on it. Avoid this place ! The only positive thing I can say is that the ladies at the front desk were very nice.

On July 11, 2023, we experienced age and racial discrimination from the manager who let a family of color take our room that was booked on the company website. My 88 y/o mother had no place to stay. We booked at the Holiday Inn Express across the parking lot and had stellar customer service! We had to pay more and got their last rooms. Hilton has yet to make this right after repeated emails and calls for over a month now. It is 8.16 as I write. The "executive customer relations rep" no longer responds at all. The images are just the last 27 days of delays and excuses from Hilton, with no end in sight. It is insanity! Four pages of documentation in small print should be more than enough to convince any rational human being to avoid this place!
