The Common Man Inn & Restaurant

Great hotel! We were traveling from New Haven to Dartmouth and decided to stop on the way. Such a great hotel, very nice, comfortable beds, spotless bathroom, big room, nice view. We had dinner in their restaurant close by and enjoyed it. For breakfast - go to the cafe close by (4 minutes walk), nice coffee and good breakfast selection.

We had the most delightful stay at The Common Man Inn in Claremont, NH, during our New England leaf-peeping adventure. Housed in a charming old textile mill, the inn offers a perfect blend of history and modern comfort. The transformation of the mill into this lovely inn was impressive, with beautifully maintained features that add character to the space. Our room was cozy and comfortable, with a bed that felt like a dream after a long day of travel. The hand soap in the bathroom smelled wonderful, a small but thoughtful touch that made us feel extra pampered. We were greeted warmly by Naimke, who made us feel right at home, and the adorable inn cat, Claire, added a special, personal touch to the experience. It was such a nice surprise to find that the inn offers warm apple cider in the lobby—a perfect treat after a chilly autumn day! Out of all the places we stayed on our New England trip, this was by far the best experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you're looking for a great place for dinner, don't miss the attached Common Man restaurant. The food was absolutely fantastic—comforting, hearty, and exactly what we needed after a day of sightseeing. We’ll definitely be returning to The Common Man Inn next time we’re in the area. It’s a hidden gem, and we couldn’t have asked for a better stop on our journey. Highly recommend!

We just stayed here and had a great time. Our room was comfortable and immaculate, the staff and the inn cat were very friendly, and the lobby lounge was a great place to hang out. Breakfast was included and fine, and we liked that juice and coffee was available all the time. Finally, make sure you at the restaurant - it was great!

I stay at the CommonMan Inn whenever I'm in the area. I just love the warmth of the inn and the friendly staff. But most of all, I appreciate the house keepers who keep these rooms spotless. This is one of the few places I stay where I don't feel I have to clean the toilet bowl before using it. There are many reasons I keep coming back here and I can't list them all.

Lovely spot overlooking the river in a renovated mill. Welcoming and courteous staff. Very comfortable lobby, very well appointed, and is an enjoyable place to read or relax. My room was very comfortable. Housekeeping was excellent. It’s a great place to stay.

Can’t say enough positive stuff about this place. Came here with a big family. All furniture (beds, pullouts etc.) were VERY comfortable. Food from the restaurant was outstanding. Hotel staff was very friendly and courteous (shout out to Catherine and the hotel manager). Prices were very reasonable. We are a working class family and money is not in excess but we will DEFINITELY be back!

The Common Man Inn is the ONLY place I will stay, even though it's a half-hour drive away from where I'm visiting family. I look forward to it! I stayed most recently on Christmas night, and the first thing I saw on arrival was a table set up with hot chocolate...so welcoming! Very friendly staff. The large room near reception is so very appealing that I go back out after I put things in my room to sit on one of the three comfy sofas around the fireplace to read. That's how appealing it is. Brick and beams and bookcases...so warm and inviting. I look forward to being there. I 've stayed four times now. Everything is very, very clean (one of my priorities). I'm on a budget so pick street-side rooms, but there's no traffic at night so it's totally quiet. My rooms have been consistently great...SO much better than any pricier chain hotel. Thoughtful touches include things like artisan soap in the bathroom. Amenities included a fridge, coffee station and comfortable armchair with a perfectly-placed reading light. I just can't say enough good things about it! I recommend it to everybody.

What an absolutely beautiful place to stay. My daughter had her wedding in the venue and we all enjoyed our stay for the weekend. Fabulous food, rooms are all beautiful ,employees extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

When I arrived to check in right before midnight m, I was distraught to see the sign in the door that there is a free roaming cat! I am allergic to cats, very allergic. I was having a bit of a meltdown at the desk because it couldn’t be guaranteed that my room didn’t ever have the cat in it. My husband and I contemplating on what to do and ask the front desk clerk, Faith, where the closest emergency room is. We started to look for somewhere to else to rent a room but it proved difficult because there really isn’t anything near. Finally, Faith offered to put us in a different building, above the restaurant, where the cat does not go. I am grateful to her for making that accommodation for me. The room was clean and beautiful with the fireplace. I appreciated the continental breakfast.
