The good points: Huge room and bathroom, both clean and comfortable. Decent bed, although mattress too soft for my liking (personal preference). Huge TV but with dreadful intermittent WiFi despite there being a hub outside the door. Not too far from town centre and on a bus route. There is plenty of free parking at the rear of the hotel. Not so good Had to request a towel for the hubby as we were only given one and a hairdryer as there wasn't one in the room (ladies will understand how much a pain it is to drag your own bulky hairdryer). There was no WiFi code in room and when hubby mentioned it whilst getting a towel and hairdryer it wasn't offered. The heating was on all night and we couldn't turn it down/off and even with the windows open, it was quite stuffy. It is advertised as having breakfast but they had no chef. Shame, as the dining room was lovely. I'm surprised they didn't offer continental. The shower didn't work initially and when we mentioned it, we were told that it should as it was recently refurbished. When we did eventually get it to work, the water was freezing cold. An electric power shower should give instant hot water. Luckily there was a hand held shower attached to the tap. So we managed. A couple of things which I found slightly worrying. There was no evacuation procedure on the back of the door. Every hotel I have stayed in, both UK and abroad, has this on the door. There was a copy on the reception desk, but we didn't notice it until we were leaving. The other thing which my husband said could potentially be dangerous, was the piping to the taps. They were the wrong way round. They should be hot to the left, cold to the right. He's a construction manager, so knows about these things. The taps weren't marked so anyone with a visual impairment might be in for a shock. All in all, not a bad hotel but not brilliant either.
