Chicago South Loop Hotel

I stayed at this hotel from Dec 31st to Jan. 2nd. Upon entering the room my first thought was, it was clean, no ironing board for the iron, no microwave, but did have a refrigerator. Goes to the sink, boom!!! No Hot water!!!! My friend called it t in, and was told they will have it taken care of. Next day awaken to no hot water. This is New Year Day 2025, no hot water, my friend called the desk at 8:00 am, and was told the boiler was out and the maintenance guy is coming to fix/ repair it, and she stated , “ we can’t make them come out or hurry them. At 11:30 I myself called, because it felt frisky to me, “ something just ween’t right. So I asked the female receptionist why we still don’t have hot water, and that the water had to be already off prior to us arriving here. She stated it going to be fix when the guy gets there. Then I said to her, the building can’t have just one boiler, therefore the whole building can’t be out of hot water. Her reply: half the building got hot water. I said that can’t be, then she said, “ almost the whole building got hot water.” I said to then give us another room. She stated it will be on the 5th floor, I said that fine, and thank you. When my friend picked up the key card, they had switched from the 5th to the 3rd floor. We gets to that room, nice and warm looking rather clean. Boom!!!’!!!!!!!!!! My friend notice immediately, No chair at the desk, No ironing board, No coffee maker ( just the tray with coffee and pack ), No lamp cover on the lamp between the two beds. The lamp on desk didn’t work. TV didn’t work!!! The heater motor were loud. Remind you we had a two-day say. I failed to mention, in the first room upon awakening I noticed a raised bump on the back side of my upper arm ( big fluid filled). When I gets home more, back of neck, and other arm, and my hip more are appearing down my arm. Never again this hotel or any Pls don’t go by the other good ratings. Pls take the bad experience into consideration!!!!

Three night stay. Checked in late on a Thursday night. Reserved a single king room. Was given a two bed room that smelled like it had been smoked in. TV in room didn't work at all. Moved us into a king bed room after complaining. Overall pretty shabby. Dresser drawers were off track and super wonky. Unusable. Loud bathroom fan ran constantly no way to turn it off. Window AC unit also very loud but it did work. TV in king room worked but internet was hopeless which is only way to watch TV. Ended up using phones as hotspot way faster than the hotel wi-fi. Elevators out of service had to use freight elevator as only working unit for a day. Fitness room machines super antiquated and not working. Parking lot doors (separate from main entrance) were not to secure at all--if you are looking for a secure hotel this is not it. Water pressure in shower was wildly variable from OK to hardly any and no ice available on the 5th floor. On plus side, bed was very comfortable and good to sleep in. So, if all you are looking for is a decent bed and nothing else, may be the hotel for you.

Don’t stay here. Dirty rooms, stained carpet, ripped upholstery, cracked lampshades, empty shower soap dispensers, weak Internet with frequent crashes, etc. Both elevators are broken and one of the stairwells is locked. The front desk staff, however, are lovely, competent and welcoming. They offered us a new room when we told them the room we checked in to had cooked rice and dental picks on the floor. The new room is the one I first described. The IT guy who came to our room to replace the stolen Roku was the highlight of our trip. We chose this hotel because we stayed here last year for the Chicago Marathon when it was a Wyndham property. Now it’s independent and WOW has it gone downhill.

The room was damp from humidity: the air, the bed, blankets, sheets, the carpet. We were so exhausted the only thing I wanted to do was lie down. When I brought it to the person at the front desk the response was "awe I'm sorry." Overall, the place was not clean. The best part was the convenience with how close it was to downtown but I'd happily drive further or pay more to know I'll be in a clean, nice place. They had a wonderfully deep bathtub which would've been divine. But everything had signs of neglect: from there being what looks like mold in the faucet, the stains on the ironing board, the fridge leaked water all over the things we put in there, and there was moisture on the air conditioning. Yeah...absolutely not.

Great location on 26th street with free parking on site, also near Green & Red CTA lines to access Sox games at Guaranteed Rate Field and Cubs games at Wrigley Field. Only a few blocks from a McDonald’s, Starbuck’s, and the McCormick Center. Would stay here again, friendly staff!
