Beard and Lady Inn

This was the most authentic and comfortable "Back in Time" experience and has an apothecary downstairs that is extraordinary. The location is conveniently located in the middle of Fayetteville and Alma and would be a great place for a group of friends to stay.

The hotel is lovingly restored with so many beautiful historic details to add to the atmosphere of historic Chester. This was a railroad stop, and note, the train still goes by right across the street. You can book a trip on the scenic train which books way in advance. There are freight trains that occasionally go by at night and can be quite loud if you are near the front of the hotel or if you are a light sleeper. There were only one or two passing at night during the days we were there. The hotel is mostly untended and guests come and go with a code and their own keys, using the common areas together. The coffee is a K cup machine and there are various granola bars, cold cereal and oatmeal provided. There is a microwave and a freezer/fridge combo available. The patio area is lovely and there is a side yard set up to play croquet if you know how.

This is the most impressive roadside attraction that I have seen in Arkansas. The apothecary is quaint and fascinating and the Inn is perfectly decorated. They were making their own witch hazel in the apothecary (amazing!) and take tin type photos there also. The attention to detail in each of the rooms in the Inn is perfect for the period. It’s a modern version of an old hotel. Its incredible. The restaurant is almost finished and should be open next month. The restaurant has an old tyme feel with an old “bubbler” in the bathroom. It will be the perfect spot for travelers looking to relax in Chester. The staff was extremely kind and accommodating, and gave us a lovely tour. I can’t wait to go back and stay at the bed-and-breakfast.
