Logis Hôtels Restaurant le Relais Chenonceaux

The room was completely clean, but as several reviewers have said, it does need some tlc and upgrades here and there. Air conditioning would have been very welcome and, especially as the summers are getting hotter, the sooner the better. I did feel that it was a fair price for the room we had and we both enjoyed the dinner. The restaurant was very busy which must denote something! The staff were extremely welcoming and very friendly. No problems with them at all and of course the hotel itself is spectacularly handy for the glorious château, which is ultimately the point! Literally over the road. It reminded me of the glory days of Logis from 20 or so years ago, where the main point was the restaurant and the room was just fine and happily clean with no frills.

We visited the restaurant on 27th May at 19.00. We had written confirmation of our table reservation which included confirmation of a gluten-free requirement. The importance of the gluten-free option was discussed with the manageress on arrival. When the main course arrived, the steak was covered with a sauce. I was unsure if this was gluten-free so queried it with the waitress, who took it back to the kitchen to check. After 10 minutes waiting, she returned with the plate with no sauce. She dumped it on the table with no explanation or apology. Later, we raised it with the manageress and after investigation she said that the chef had prepared a gluten-free steak, but the waitress had taken the wrong plate. Had we not queried this, my wife would have been severely sick and ill for a day. Not what anyone expects on holiday. To make matters worse we were charged the full amount with no goodwill gesture to compensate for such a serious incident. The restaurant was very busy and the service was very slow and we were there for over 2 hours for a basic meal. However that wasn't as disastrous as the gluten-free error!!

It is very old building. No acoustic isolation. All single noise is perfectly listened . Rooms are very small and far away from being charming . The only advantage is that it is very closed to Château Cenonceaux. Very pricy for what it is

Reception: there were only two or three of us staying on a cold March day but all staff were friendly and welcoming. Location: Only 5 – 10 minute walk to the Chateau ticket office so ideal. Off road parking immediately outside. The bedroom: Smallish but attractively furnished with two chairs with tapestry seats and with old wood beams. Room 206 was under the eaves so the wood beams meant that one could not stand upright on one side of the bed. Plenty of electric plugs. Good bathroom facilities. No view from the window. Wifi reception varied as to one’s position in the room. Food: Breakfast was good with fresh coffee, orange juice and a decent selection but on the pricey side at €13. We dined there on both nights as there was little choice in Chenonceaux at that time. Nicely cooked food but nothing memorable. Entrée, plat, no dessert, a bottle of wine and coffee cost around €90 for two. Again on the pricey side. Overall a pleasant place to stay but at €415 for two nights dinner, bed and breakfast for two we have had better value elsewhere.

La force du restaurant ... Les gratins de pdt ne sont pas cuits et baignent dans le lait. Pas d assaisonnent. Les burgers et les frites qui sont maison mais rechauffees sont meilleurs dans les grandes chaînes. Donc sa force . est d être ouvert.

Des chambres de petite surface mais fonctionnelles. La salle de bain,exiguë, à déconseiller aux personnes peu mobiles. Il n’y a pas d’ascenseur. De la moquette au sol… Le petit déjeuner buffet plutôt complet. Bref un établissement d’époque. A priori les chambres sont en cours de rénovation, et c’est déjà fini dans l’annexe. Nous avons séjourné le 17/18 août.
