Mercure Chengdu Jiuyanqiao (Taikoo Li Branch)

The hotel has a great location, right next to a shopping mall and very close to the metro station. However, the deco feels a bit dated and the soundproofing could be better.

Good location, a mere 8min walk to metro station. Was initially given a room where the window was very dirty and there were 2 visible scars on the floor tiles in the middle of the room, not to mention a weird smell hanging in the air. Luckily, the reception acceded to my request for a change of room even though I had bn in the room for almost 30min. They even apologied and sent over a plate of fruits via a robot, wh I found to be quite novel. Subsequent request for moisturising lotion was also acceded to promptly, as was my request to have a late checkout. However, was a bit yaken aback when upon checking out, the lady at the reception asked me to give them a 5 star rating. I thought this was not very appropriate. But to her credit, she did not push it. The new room was much better, though the window panes still exhibited some patches of dirt on the outside. Was told by housekeeping that they do not clean the outside of the window pane. Some wear and tear is still visible on the walls and floor tiles but these are much more tolerable compared to the first room. Other than that, the room is clean and spacious, and I'm quite happy with it. Breakfast was also reasonably good with a wide variety, but the fried rice and noodles were rather cold. However, u could order freshly made pipping hot noodles if u wish. There are only 2 elevators.....and the wait can b quite long. On one of the days I was there, one of the elevators broke down, and it can b quite a test of patience having to wait for the elevator, esp if u r staying on the high flloors....

The room lights work kind of weird, not sure how the switches work but only certain work. The curtain buttons also don’t work and certain parts of the room finishing look unfinished. The fridge had a weird smell and wasn’t cold…
