The Stump

Wow What a find !!! Such a beautiful place to stay, super clean rooms and the food is fabulous ( especially the roast dinner and breakfasts !!!) But the thing that sticks out the most is the wonderful staff , they can not do enough for you and you can see they love working there . Will definitely be staying here again in the future. Great location too for all the beautiful villages around !

Stayed for one night in a room with 2 doubles. Was lovely and clean, beds were a little firm but the bedding and pillows were so fluffy and comfy it was really cosy. Our breakfast the next morning was out of this world. It was so relaxing sat in front of a real fire in the breakfast room and the food was delicious. I had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon...the best I've had anywhere! The rest of the family had delicious cooked breakfasts which were such generous portions and really fresh produce and very good quality. Staff were all so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Would love to go back and stay and try their home cooked pizzas next time.

The Stump was fully booked and we were a walking, they accommodated us and we were delighted they did as I've never tried Pizza like it! I'd fly over again just for it! Pizza is great, cocktails are lovely and the staff were amazing. It's a must visit if you're in the area, or even fancy the drive!!

We stayed at The Stump hotel in the summer for a friends wedding. Despite being in the middle of no where it was surprisingly easy to get to. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly and welcoming staff who showed us to our room. The rooms were a good size for 2 people (we had 2 double beds). The bathroom was stylish and the shower was powerful. Our sleep was very comfortable and so quiet. As 2 females we felt very safe. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. There was a variety of options which was a nice surprise for a small hotel. The staff at breakfast were very attentive and polite. I recommend The Stump for anyone visiting the area and fancy a quiet little break.

The people were helpful and the setting was lovely. The cleanliness let it down, pillows were all covered in hairs like a grizzly bear had been sleeping in the bed, no pillow protectors so as the pillow case was opening up all you saw were long black hairs. I messaged the team and they got replaced. The bathroom was tired, hairs everywhere on the walls of the shower and a dirty stain in the shower that could have been scoured off but had been left. The walls were all splashed and marked, simply using bathroom paint would have solved the problem. The breakfast was fine but the bacon was cooked within an inch of its life. To be honest when we saw the state of the pillows we contemplated going home, luckily these were replaced. It just wasn’t worth £139 in our opinion.

This place hold fondest memories, and it beats expetations everytime. From working here when I was younger, to visting now. It has come leaps and bounds. Such charecter surrounding this venue and look forward to visiting again soon with the family
