Premier Inn Cheltenham Central (West/A40) Hotel

If we had known that the hotel was next to the main line railway we would not of booked. In fact we stayed on the Thursday night and were due to return on the Sunday, but cancelled and move hotels, due to the constant train noise all night. The car park is shared by what was TGI Fridays, that is now under renavations converting it to a Mc donalds. So goodness knows what it's going to be like when full of peop;e visiting it and dumping rubbish,if it's anything like the one near us. The Breakfast was ok, not a great choise as being served in what looked like converted rooms as no outside Beefeater or the usual restaurants next door. Hotel staff very helpful and room usual cleaniness. Just a shame about the location.

The poached eggs were the best that I have ever tasted. Joel the chef even told us the secret of these fantastic poaches eggs and was just like a special host to all the guests. The rooms were nice and clean and the front desk staff were great and all had good senses of humour. I would change the laundry, as the towels were a bit hard.

Room 63 was a standard room on the top floor with a great bed. However, there was mould above the air-conditioning unit and on the right side above the window. Beware this room overlooks the building site as the TGIF restaurant is converted into a MacDonalds. We didn't hear any noise, but it was a weekend. Breakfast was very good and Joel the cook was very attentive and helpful.

We had a very comfortable nights sleep. The service at breakfast was lovely and the staff very helpful. Joel the chef was particularly helpful and friendly and made a great cooked breakfast. The receptionist gave us some very useful information on where to get food in the evening.

From the moment we arrived we were comfortable. There was ample free parking. The staff were super friendly. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Even though we overlooked the railway line we didn't hear the trains with the windows closed. The room was warm enough and had everything we needed - even a hairdryer, which is rare these days. The location is ideal - far enough out of town but close enough to walk in. Would definitely stay again.

The cooker was broken so there was no cooked breakfast and they couldn't make any pastries either. We weren't told until we arrived, so we didn't have the time to make alternative breakfast arrangements. The shelves in the room were dirty. There are construction works going on in the building next door, so it was noisy when we arrived. The staff had no clue what to offer us when we said we had dairy and egg allergies. The room was too hot and couldn't be cooler than 19 degrees.
