Chelmsford (Springfield)

Not good, reception was rude and un inviting at all. Went into reception and just got blunt answer. Carpark was charged at extra and wasn't advised on the booking page so basically a hidden charge. I booked as the cheapest as I only needed a bed and after the carpark charge and rude reception I definitely won't be using again

We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay which was made special by Rosie a member of staff who was professional, delightful and knew how to make us feel welcome and valued. We have met her on two recent visits and on both occasions she has enhanced our stay.

We stay at this premier inn a few times before but it has lost its appeal for us. We couldn't have dinner there and had to drive to another premier inn this wasn't far but a problem for us. We then got a parking fine due to parking for 40 mins then returning. Very poor as premier inn doesn't own the carpark. Especially when we have paid to stay there and have to pay to park. Staff were not that helpful when I later rang to ask about the parking not interested in helping at all. The rooms were ready but they wanted £10 more to get the key 30 min earlier. Breakfast was not as good as normal and it took 20 mins to come. Will try and not use Premier inns anymore. Will use air B&B from now on better service and don't have to pay to park. The company is not as good as a few year ago. Going down hill fast, won't be long and they will sell out and fill up with migrants. Very poor

I last stayed at this Premier Inn in December 2021 and it looks as neglected now as it did then. The recepetion area looks alright and some effort has been made to make it welcoming, but go into the corridors and rooms and it's a completely different story. While my room appeared clean there are plenty of things that need doing. The desk chair was covered in stains, the paint was peeling from around the window, the window ledges and frames were mouldy, the mastic and tiles were dirty in the bathroom. Everywhere looks tatty and in need of refurbishment. Had I stayed on my preferred date my room would have cost me well over £120, it was only just worth £42 I did pay. On the plus side the staff are amazing. Joe the duty manager when I checked in was very helpful, friendly and professional. Later in the evening Deb, Brooke and Amy were outstanding. They were so busy at reception, the bar and in the restaurant, but they dealt with everything calmly, with a smile and a friendly, welcoming attitude. It is definitey the staff that make this Premier Inn, without them there would be no good reason to stay there. Maybe, the powers that be should invest some money in their older properties instead of just wanting to add to the ever increasing room stock. Having to work and stay positive in a tatty, forgotten workplace is not easy.

I stopped her for one night with my adult daughter with Down’s syndrome. He pick up point for her breakaway holiday was quite early just outside Chelmsford so decided it would be better to stope the night close by . Nice friendly welcome . Twin room nice and comfortable and clean. We actually had 2 proper beds (not sofa bed) and a chair. Good quality food at breakfast and for evening meal . Restaurant was nice and intimate, which you can’t say for all Thyme restaurants . Staff very good in the evening At breakfast a member of staff appeared as if it was just too early for him. Given a voucher for car park but couldn’t get it to work. It’s £7 for 24 hours All in all a lovely restful overnight stay.

Room smelt of damp. Mold in every corner of the room, scuff marks on every single wall. Photos attached . I stay in a lot of premier Inns but this has been the worst, just felt dirty. The bed is the only thing going for it. Comfortable as usual. My favourite part was I tried to check in 5 minutes before 3pm and was told it would be £10... I'd rather have just been told to wait 5 minutes.
