We stayed at the Bridge Street Inn in Charlevoix for four nights the week of July 4th. While the streets were filled with people and cars, the Inn was a place of peace and serenity. The Inn was built around 1895 and has been well cared for. There is parking in the driveway and on the street. Micky, the owner and chef, greeted us upon our arrival and showed us our room. We stayed in the Lake Breeze suite with a separate bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. The rooms were filled with antiques and furnishings one would expect from the period. The bathroom was small, but adequate. The shower was hot, the towels were soft, and the bedding was excellent. All windows are screened, so they can be opened for fresh air when the A/C is not in use. Mickey served wines, cheeses, and snacks every evening at 5 PM either on the large wrap around porch or in the dining room. But be prepared for spectacular breakfasts! He served breakfast everyday at 8:30 AM. Each day we started with a freshly baked pastry filled with seasonal fruit or something unique like a broiled orange half with cinnamon and amaretto. That was followed by an egg dish like Eggs Benedict or "Italian" stuffed French Toast. Every day had a different menu. Lots of great coffee. You could not have a finer breakfast at a five star restaurant! In addition, there was coffee or tea available throughout the day, as well as bottled water. The Bridge Street Inn has a great location, walkable to the beaches, downtown, and to the marina. The owner/chef is wonderful and easy to work with, the building is clean and comfortable. We will certainly be back!
