Manoir de Ponsay

We stayed here last month as a stopover for a couple of nights while heading down to Ile de Ré, and it turned out to be just as fantastic an experience as our main destination was. It is a stunning building, completely unspoilt, and exactly as you would hope an old chateau to be if you have never actually stayed in one before. It doesn’t disappoint - opulent and very grand, with immaculate rooms and spotless bathrooms. We stayed in the tower which we loved, the novelty factor alone of sleeping in an old tower with a perfect view of the surrounding countryside was amazing. Laurent and his wife offered us such a warm welcome and immediately made us feel right at home. Breakfast is a must and an experience in itself, with everybody eating and chatting around a huge table in one of the grandest rooms I’ve ever sat in. In short, an unforgettable experience that I would recommend to anyone. If you’re looking for an unspoiled little piece of France, I would have thought it’s pretty much unbeatable. And Laurent - the number plate has pride of place in my garage!

The most stunning property. Very friendly hosts who couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious, recommendations for the evening meal were spot on. The rooms were comfortable and clean with beautiful period features.

My family and I stayed last week as the proximity to Puy du Foy is very close. The Manoir and the history is superb and you feel fortunate to stay in such a building. The couple that run Manoir are extremely welcoming and make time for all their guests.They arranged a last minute dinner for us with no problems. Our children played in the grounds and Paddy the dog was very gentle with my daughters. I am already discussing a potential Christmas visit with the family. All of this and the rates are very economical!

Hôtes très agréables manoir présentant un intérieur chaleureux et convivial extérieur verdoyant calme assuré. Chambre spacieuse bien agencée . L établissement gagnerais à utiliser pour le lavage des draps et oreilles une lessive et assouplissant non odorant . Certaine personne sensibles peuvent être incommodés par ces odeurs chimiques cela a été notre cas. Petit déjeuner ok .

Accueil chaleureux. Les hôtes sont gracieux et chaleureux, le cadre sympathique Literie confortable et vue de la chambre sur un beau paysage. Environnements intérieur très propre et bien entretenu. Petit déjeuner copieux dans le salon

A peine arrivé le Manoir en impose. La propriété est magnifique 🤩 Les hôtes sont tout simplement adorables et très prévenants!! Le petit déjeuner est exceptionnel. Chambre superbe, literie excellente,salle de bains très moderne… En un mot un superbe moment passé ☀️🤩
