We are in the mountains, so bugs like ants, ladybugs, and stinkbugs do make their way inside occasionally (especially if you have the doors or windows open for some lovely mountain air). We take extra measures to keep them out and under control, but please keep reasonable expectations. In the summer especially, bugs are to be expected outside. Our cabin is equipped with Starlink high-speed satellite internet, offering fast and reliable Wi-Fi for streaming, video calls, and remote work—even in this secluded mountain setting. This charming one bedroom creek-side cottage overlooks Elk Creek just outside the small rural town of Doty. Antiques and a small wood stove looking heater, supply the interior of the cottage with a sense of warmth and country comfort. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, and comfortable living room. You’ll enjoy views of the creek and surrounding woodlands, while sitting on the deck, sitting at the breakfast nook, or relaxing in the living room. Enjoy a meal on the deck from the cozy outdoor furniture or sitting at the picnic table after barbecuing. The Doty store is one of the few remaining real country stores left in the State. Inside this quaint little store, you can get ice cream by the scoop and most essentials. You can explore the trails through the old-growth forest of Rainbow Falls State Park which is only 2.5 miles from the cottage. The park also has great swimming holes, kitchen for day use, and toys for the kids to play on. Six miles west down Highway 6, you will find the town of Pe Ell. Here you will find Jones Creek Brewing, Evey’s Cafe, Jacked-Up coffee stand, Dollar General, Texaco gas station, Pe Ell County Market, and even a laundromat. Also, on your way to Pe Ell, you will find the Owl and Olive Restaurant. You’ll be able to take day trips to the ocean or visit Mt Rainier, Mt. St. Helen’s and many other sites throughout the PNW. Grab the picnic basket from the cabin, stock it up with your favorites, and walk down to the Elk Creek Falls for a picnic. The trail next to the cabin will lead you to the beautiful falls. There is a queen futon and sofa bed in the rec room, both have foam toppers you can add. (Please note - there are not 4 separate bedrooms, but two bedrooms, a separated loft, 2 complete bathrooms, and rec room with a tv and 2 queen size sleeping options!) The beautiful deck off of the kitchen comes with a gas BBQ and plenty of outdoor patio seating, complete with night time twinkle lights. A new seven person hot tub has been recently added to the property, and we also have a hammock, swing and zipline in the back yard. The mudroom on the bottom floor has plenty of space to store your ski or hiking gear. The rec room on the bottom floor has a 50" 4K TV with good speakers, a foosball table and a mini fridge to keep your drinks cold. There is also an extra fridge in the garage area. The cabin sits steps away from the the river front, for excellent fishing and hiking by the Cowlitz river.The open space living room comes equipped with a cast iron wood burning stove, a brand new Italian leather sectional couch, a 32" flat screen TV with BOSE surround sound, a dvd player (with a fully stocked film collection), HD Smart TV, and a table with seating for up to 10 people. From the living room you can gaze out of the floor to ceiling windows that encompass a whole side of the A-Frame to admire the beautiful forest and river beyond. The cabin comes all ready with plenty of wood for the fireplace, already chopped and ready to be burned. The kitchen comes fully stocked with pots, pans, spices, coffee and latte bar, and kitchen utensils.The cabin has been recently outfitted with a high efficiency 80 gallons hot water heater so you can have plenty of hot showers after a long day on the slopes. The cabin also comes with air conditioning for those hot summer days.Summer renters can also access the community's swimming pool and 9 holes golf course for a small fee ($10pp swimming pool and $40pp to play golf for the day as many times as you like, to be paid at the club house, approximately 1.5 miles from the cabin).*** I am including this year because we receive numerous requests to use this cabin as a wedding venue for small weddings and elopement.
