The property is perfectly located only 1 minute to the new hot springs, 20 minutes to Purgatory Resort, 1 minute to Dalton Ranch golf course and 10 minutes to downtown Durango. Access miles of hiking and biking trails right out the backdoor as the house is secluded and surrounded by the San Juan National forest on 2 sides. This house is great for families and large groups and is even equipped with a game room and bunk beds for the kids. The house is two floors which allows for privacy for multiple families/groups under one roof. Please note, you must be able to climb stairs as the main living area and kitchen are upstairs, which allows for beautiful, elevated views :)The home also has many new improvements including: Central AC/Heating, backyard patio, remodeled bathroom downstairs and new driveway (steepness was slightly reduced and compact gravel added for traction). Escape to a cozy and peaceful cabin in Hesperus for a cozy retreat. Our cabin sits on 35 acres in a beautiful valley in Southwestern Colorado. Rustic and cozy, this 742 sf cabin has a bedroom with a full bed and a loft with 4 twin beds. Get away from it all and relax in a quiet atmosphere. Kickback, relax, and enjoy everything our little slice of heaven has to offer. Pets are allowed. The cabin is supplied by well water + is 9 miles down a graded road so expect a 4wd vehicle in the winter and quite a bit of dust on the car in the summer. The water is well water so note that it can leave skin feeling dry (which we supply lots of lotion) and can feel mineral like. Please note we received a negative review from a woman named Deborah that you shall see below. If you read the complaints thoroughly, you'll see that she DID NOT read any of the property details as we clearly explained all of this in the details that you're currently reading. Please only book this cabin if you understand what a cabin experience is like. We have been proud owners and have rented on other platforms for three years and never have had a negative review. And please note that Colorado is seeing more than usual fires (as of 8/12/25) in our area, which is completely out of our control. Access from the South is gated by the Forest Service for Cross Country Skiing from December to April. Cabins accessible via groomed ski trails snow permitting, December – April. LAKE LEVELSVallecito is a reservoir that provides water for La Plata County. As such, we have no control over lake levels which can vary as much as 20 feet. It isn’t uncommon for water levels to be so high that it can affect plumbing in a few of the cabins for a few weeks during the summer. Port-a-potties will be on-site near affected cabins if this is the case. There is also a bath/shower house up the hill for use in extreme cases. We understand this can be frustrating and will provide a discount if this affects your stay. Due to the nature of the property and the cabin size, for each undeclared guest that exceeds the number of people the cabin sleeps, there will be a $100 fine per person per night. Please be mindful of the cabin’s capacity when booking and plan accordingly. Each cabin is different, and a larger cabin might suit your group better. WINTER ACCESS4WD/AWD May be required from November / March, the property is plowed, however, one hill must be traversed for access, and we cannot guarantee snow will be plowed at arrival. Newly renovated 2 Bedroom 1 bath Cabin with large yard that sits along a big beautiful meadow at the base of Weminuche Wilderness. The views are breathtaking as you look out to the towering peaks that reach over 13 thousand feet. With newly remodeled floor, bathroom, and kitchen you'll enjoy every minute of your stay. Master bedroom has a spacious queen size bed along with plenty of lighting and large clothes dresser. The second bedroom has two twin size beds along with a dresser and lamp. Both bedrooms have plenty of space in the closets to hang things up. Just off the kitchen there is a queen size couch hide-a-bed. The kitchen is fully stocked with plenty of dishes, cookware, both a full size coffee pot and Keruig machine with supplied pods, coffee and filters. There is several ice trays in the freezer. In the living room you'll find a smart TV along with a couple board games if you decide to stay inside. During Summer and Fall there is a cold water only washing machine and clothes dryer if you need to do any laundry. The cabin is less then a quarter mile from a popular trailhead that leads deep into the wilderness. If boating and fishing is your thing you'll love how close you are to Vallecito Reservoir where there's awesome Trout, Pike, Walleye, Small mouth Bass, and Kokanee salmon. There is 2 rivers that feed the lake where you can fly fish. If horseback riding is more your liking there are several companies that do horseback rides during the summer months. Minutes away are several trailheads that lead to many hours of exploring and adventures in one of Colorado's largest wildernesses. If you want to bring an RV or trailer you'll find lots of space for parking as well as an RV dump station on the property. This is a dog friendly property but we do have a dog fee as well as a limit of 2 dogs. We just ask that your furry friends do not get on any of the furniture or beds please.
