Canto de Luz - Luxury Maison

A hidden gem in Porto. Through an unassuming door you enter into a clean welcoming spacious guesthouse in the heart of the city. The staff are very welcoming and you instantly feel at home and well cared for. The courtyard area and breakfast was delicious - fresh pastry/bread from Porto's oldest artisan bakery and even a GF treat for me plus fresh fruits, eggs and cheeses. The room was clean and comfortable with a view over the courtyard. We were too busy to sit by the pool but it looked a good place for a wind down.Just a small dipping pool but a good addition.

We had a lovely two-night stay in the Garden Suite during our trip to Porto. We were welcomed by friendly hosts and some much needed coffee. The room was spacious, with high tech features, and we enjoyed some wine on the balcony overlooking the garden. The location of the property is nice because you can easily walk to the city center or the Ribeira but can stay in a more calm and quiet environment. The breakfast each day was phenomenal and the breakfast staff were so friendly and took a genuine interest in talking with you. We also enjoyed the unique wine machine which allowed you to purchase glasses of wine via a QR code. We will be sure to come back!

This small deluxe hotel had the best quiet location and the most friendly and helpful staff. The bed was super comfortable and the room was generous in size and very bright. We loved the sun filled dining area and open air patio. We even enjoyed petting the resident chat.

We LOVED Canto de Luz. The location, the staff, the room, the ambience, the cat - just everything about it. So friendly but professional. Great attention to detail and someone has a great eye for interior design. We stayed in 2 City and relished the view from the little balcony. Nearly perfect in our opinion. Couple of TINY things would improve it from my point of view - have a fridge in the room and a bit more storage and a magnifying mirror. We 100% recommend and would most certainly return.

What a cute small hotel! Barely visible as you walk down the street but a gem inside. An old building but they have transformed it with glass opening up an inner atrium. Only a couple rooms on each floor, eco-friendly design. Breakfast was delicious under a glass roof in the garden. Wish we could have stayed more than one night. A QR code entitles you to a complimentary glass of wine at their wine bar. A code is used to enter the hotel as well as enter your room.

My friend booked this requesting twin beds. There was one double surrounded by black walls and a mattress on an extended part of a sofa, see photos. My friend slept in the double bed and said it was 'pitch black' when the lights went out. Although I preferred the extended sofa, it wasn't comfortable. Everything is electric and whilst we were able to turn the lights out, randomly the bathroom, which is at the end of a long corridor, came on in the night. We set the heating to 24 just to get them on but the radiators didn't respond so the room was cold. We were unable to turn them on manually. It comes with a washing machine and dish washer, neither had been used. Surprisingly there's no extended washing line in the shower room as you sometimes have in hotels. Every door into the property was opened with your room code. We watched with amusement as four sets of people, couples & solo tried and failed to open an external door to the breakfast room. The breakfast was very good and service is with great care, hence it's slow. The staff were very helpful in recommending good local restaurants and the location is good. It's also very clean. The intension is positive but it fails to deliver. If you're friends who require twin beds or of an age where you prefer switches to all electric I'd give Canto de Luz a miss.

Hotel was lovely Very Modern design hotel in an old building. All the staff couldn’t be more attentive and helpful and always with a smile. Breakfast was a good choice of Fresh fruit , granola , yogurt, pastries, eggs & toast but slightly different every day which was nice And would make other items if requested Room was nice we had a double and a pull out couch which was set up as a bed for one of our party but had a wardrobe between both areas which was great for privacy Lovely kitchen area with a fridge sink and table you could eat in a f required

A great base for exploring Porto - close to all the main sights but out of the main traffic/noise of the city centre. Clean, stylish and well appointed rooms; lovely staff; ample choices for breakfast. Excellent communication from Susan from the initial booking right through to the arrival. Would definitely use again and highly recommend!

This is a boutique hotel in a famous old street in Porto. The unassuming look and door gives way to a lovely foyer, open area and garden. Staff go out of their way to I have rarely seen staff so willing to help,on any issue. Breakfast is delicious, coffee warm. Rooms are very well appointed, and get as much or as little light as you want. Staff can help you with reservations, taxis, and advice for sightseeing and restaurants. This is a gem of a hotel.
