The George Hotel

The actual pub part of this hotel is lovely and staff friendly. Our room was extremely hot and without air con it was necessary to have the window open . This wouldn’t normally be an issue but after the bar shut the staff sat outside drinking and talking very loudly . At 12am we felt the need to make a comment. They did go in but came back out later . The bed mattress was incredibly uncomfortable - you could hear and feel the springs moving as you moved. It didn’t make for a good night sleep. The panelling in the bathroom has two panels out that need fixing. The shower pressure was extremely poor. As the room was above the kitchen we were woken by the generator (?) or extractor something similar going on around 6ish. It’s a shame as this hotel has potential especially as there aren’t many in the area.

An amazing and welcoming hotel, pub/restaurant with really clean and comfortable rooms. Great selection of beers, cider and ale's and great food. All the staff and managers were excellent giving outstanding service when we stayed on Mon 10/02.

We haven’t previously visited The George, so we were very pleasantly surprised to find superb pub food at reasonable prices. Our lunch with friends was the launch day for a new menu, so staff were very interested to hear what we thought. Wow! Fantastic, tasty dishes from start to finish. The cured salmon and prawns starter was totally delicious. The chef has focussed the new menu on warming, hearty food for the winter season. There are still steaks, burgers, lasagne etc, but we went for beef short rib, liver & bacon and porchetta. As a bonus, the two young ladies who served us couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming. We will definitely add this to our local favourites list - well recommended.

Our group of 21 so enjoyed a Christmas meal at the hotel. The food was plentiful and delicious. The staff and Shelby in particular were so polite and attentive. Great evening, thank you so much. I would definitely recommend for drinks and dining.

Staff were fantastic. Wayne and the team saved a tragic afternoon in Frome. After spending some time locally, this is by far the best pub. Staff were friendly and professional. Food was very good (Sunday lunch - served all day and into the evening£

Excellent location right in the centre. Free parking. Really friendly and helpful staff (which seems to be a thing everywhere we went in Frome) lovely big room which was very clean. Absolutely incredible value for 2 night stay, once you take away the cost of the 4 breakfasts and the 3 days parking it is such good value considering how lovely it was. Really fantastic and we will come back again soon. The only minor criticism I could think of if I was trying to be really picky is the bathroom needed a lick of paint but to be fair it was very clean and well equipped so was not an issue at all.
