Dimora Cottanera

One of our most enjoyable stay during our 12 days trip around Sicily. Upon landing at Catania airport, we drove all the way to Dimora Cottanera, arriving after dark. Stayed here for three nights and weren’t bored. Excellent ambience, great views, good amenities, nice and strong hot water, very comfortable beds, very good breakfast. The infinity pool was too cold in November, but we did enjoy the sauna and the outdoor bath. Credits to Serena who was really nice and helpful. She arranged our Mt Etna trip and wine tasting.

The property has potential and the staff is trying hard but they are still at the very beginning: the first night the door was locked when we came back from a restaurant, no way in, it was 11 pm, dark and cold and we called the reception. After the sixth call we reached someone. Nice guy, said he will try to solve the problem and if he can’t he could come to the property in 15 minutes. Finally, after approx. 30 min my knocking at the door was heard by a hotel guest who left us in. Apologies followed next day and staff was very polite and actively approached us to apologize for that issue. The second night, we thought things would become good now, the next issues: worms between 2 and 5 cms in the room, on the floor and on the walls. We evacuated 15 of them. Not enough? When we came home in the evening, no water in the room. water pump defect, no water (I mean no water at all on the whole property) until next morning. OMG. Problem was solved the next morning at 8 am. Hotel offered drinks and aperetivo for free. The third night: when we arrest the hotel after visiting Taormina, it was 7 pm or so, we parked our car at the (not yet ready built) parking area and noticed that a car (it turned out to be the owner‘s car) was blocking the stairways that one had to use when leaving the parking lot. Trying to pass the car, I misstepped and hurt my ankle so that we could not visit the etna the next day. Again staff was very sorry and very concerned the next day but the owners were not available for a discussion. Finally we were offered one free night out of four for all the trouble. This is all very disappointing and the hotel has some potential but I am afraid they are not yet there. With the present owners, which are not present at the property, they may never get there.

An opportunity to simply be. If you need to get away from the stress of contemporary living, this could be your place to come to. It’s a new B&B built on a family vineyard that’s over 100 years old. The B&B is just a year old and it looks and feels that way. Everything is essentially new. The grounds are spectacular. I’d like to bring the gardener that keeps the grounds to my homes in the United states. Tranquility abounds here. You can hear nothing if you want to and it sounds delightful. They do not have a restaurant on the property but the breakfast is wonderful with good service as well. There are several common area for your enjoyment and each has its own uniqueness. All are inviting. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. That includes the bathrooms which are a treat in Europe. Getting here can be a challenge as it’s located in the countryside and driving to it is for people who are good drivers. The roads are narrow like they are say up in Taormina. All in all, I would highly recommend this place for a peaceful vacation where you can talk to God if you want to. There shouldn’t be any interference with communications here. And, the WiFi works well too if you need it.

Perfect. The setting in the middle of a vineyard is so beautiful, and the rooms are modern and luxurious. We got a free upgrade to a room with an amazing view and couldn’t be happier. The staff were very kind and accommodating, and were very helpful with great restaurant suggestions only 10 minutes drive away. We stayed for two nights but wish we had stayed for more. This is one of our favorite stays in all of Sicily.

We stayed for 2 nights at this wonderful resort. The property was stunning, so peaceful and relaxing. The entire staff was amazing and accommodating to all our needs. We also had massages by Concetta, would highly recommend. With the winery across the street it is the perfect location.

Gorgeous location and accommodations, we only stayed one night. Wish we could have stayed longer since this was one of the prettiest places we've been. Overlooking the vineyards with Mt. Etna in the distance was very special. The included breakfast was excellent with homemade cakes. Having wine in the winter garden was such a treat after a long day. It was too cool in April, for us to use the pool, but the setting was gorgeous.

We booked only one night into this property between our Mt. Etna and Taormina stops. We wanted to stay in the Northern Etna wine area and do some tastings. We were immediately impressed with the hotel and with Vincenzo who greeted us. The weather was cool and cloudy and so we were not able to make the most of the magnificent pool and grounds. However the room, the bathroom, the breakfast and our wine tasting more than made up for it. Vincenzo could not have been more helpful even offering suggestions for dinner in Taormina with him making the reservations. If you are coming in warmer weather, this is a great place to stay a few days so that in addition to day trips you can relax and enjoy the hotel. Do the wine tasting! We did the 4 glass with tasty treats but also heard people raving about the tasting and lunch.

Abbiamo prenotato in 7 coppie e siamo arrivati sabato nel pomeriggio per trascorrere solo una notte. Dopo il check-in siamo andati nelle nostre camere, devo dire tutte arredate con molto gusto e ci siamo riposati un paio d’ore. Verso le 18 abbiamo fatto un tour dell’azienda vinicola e il titolare ci ha spiegato come viene fatto il vino dalla raccolta all’ imbottigliamento, questo è stato già un inizio bellissimo dell’esperienza. Finito il tour, ci siamo appropinquati nella zona dove era stato allestito un tavolo rettangolare per accoglierci tutti insieme, che dire, semplicemente spettacolare. Abbiamo mangiato degli antipasti buonissimi e poi ci è stato proposto un primo con sugo di cinghiale veramente ottimo. Tra gli ospiti c’erano anche due persone celiache alle quali non è mancato nulla dall’antipasto al dolce. Finita la cena ci siamo recati in camera per riposare e al mattino abbiamo consumato un’ottima ed abbondante colazione. Finita la colazione alcuni hanno fatto un giro a piedi nel vigneto, altri un massaggio, essendoci una spa, altri palestra. Qualcun altro si è goduto il gazebo a vetri che dominava sul vigneto con vista spettacolare. Alla fine per le 12 di mattina ce ne siamo andati in quanto dovevamo ritornare a casa, ma io sicuramente ritornerò che sono stato troppo bene e coccolato!!! Grazie a tutti per la fantastica ospitalità, lo consiglio fortemente a tutti anche a chi non beve e degusta il vino!!! Grazie Francesco!!!

Location strepitosa, tutto e tutti impeccabili, struttura curata nei minimi dettagli. Stanze confortevoli , arredate con massima cura! Ospitalità , vini eccellenti, cibo ottimo… che dire ho scoperto un mondo! Ritornerò spessissimo perché ne vale la pena Bravi!!!!!
