Hampton Inn Los Angeles/Carson/Torrance

Pros: * super comfortable King bed * good breakfast * less than 5 minute walk to Panda Express, L&L Hawaiian BBQ, UPS, and a few other stores * quiet * great computer desk & chair * everything worked (shower, mini-fridge etc.) Cons: * old loud A/C unit (but white noise) * suburban location * very small business center * very small fitness center

Food was mediocre. One day the breakfast was no hot foods, only cold foods. The rooms and bathrooms very small. Upon check in noticed my towels in the bathroom were not the cleanest so we called down to the lobby to ask for more and the front desk personnel was not the most customer service oriented. Won’t book again. Definitely wasn’t worth 700

I think I’ve stayed here about 3 to 4 times for work in the last two years. It is only about 15 minute drive to our plant in Compton and within easy walking distance of places to eat. Tonight I had dinner at the El Pescador again (separate review coming), less than 15 minute walk! They have a nice looking outdoor pool in front (picture attached), plenty of parking in front & back. I didn’t use the fitness center this trip, but it appears well equipped ( picture also attached). The young ladies at the front desk were very friendly and helpful again. I attached pictures of my room, breakfast buffet, and eating area. They still have a business center with two computers (I thought I had a picture- but now I’m too tired & lazy to go back downstairs to take another pic). A lot of hotels have eliminated their business centers- so this is a nice feature to maintain. The rooms on the north side, facing the 91 freeway do get a little traffic noise, but not bad really.

I like a hotel that’s close to my work location and a restaurant or two that I can walk to. This Hampton fits both of those for me, a couple hundred yard walk to a nice latin american style restaurant and only 15 minutes to our plant in Compton. I stayed here about a year ago on a work trip also. It is comfortable and all the people I met here are very friendly and helpful. I walked back to the same restaurants as last year this trip too. There is plenty of parking including between the hotel and freeway.

For a quick overnight stay, the hotel was fine and at a decent price point. Unfortunately, the pillows were very flat and not comfortable. The lobby was clean as was the overall condition of the room if not a bit on the old side. The breakfast service was the best part and a great start to our early day! The staff at the front desk was friendly, but not especially welcoming. The vending machines are horrible/didn't work and it was frustrating since that is where they expect you get beverages or snacks in the hotel during your stay. It would be very inconvenient if we had to stay longer. Great location if you are attending an event at the Dignity Health Sports Park.

I received a notification at 2pm from the Hilton app letting me know my room was ready so I got to the hotel at 2:30 and when I opened the room, it was not ready at all. When I went down to the front desk to ask for another room I was greeted by a very rude staff member. She instantly asked how did I get into the room, I told her the app said it was ready so I was able to access it with the phone key. She started raising her voice and said it’s not ready and the app is wrong. I don’t care if the app is wrong, I just need a clean room and didn’t really mind. What set me off was that the lady was so mean and tried to blame me for accessing a room that wasn’t ready.
