Carlsbad by the Sea Hotel

I would not stay here again. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the room itself was lacking. Outdated bathroom with a bathtub that had nothing to keep you from skipping to the bathroom tile that just as slippery even with the floor towel. The room was big and clean with a nice bed but the lugging was awful. There were 2 side tanks lamps, 1 floor lamp, and a desk lamp(didn't work). Even with the 3 that worked out was still very dimly lit. The pipes in the wall sounded like they were going to bust when a another room would turn on their water. It was so loud. When I booked this room it said it was a 3 star hotel, more of a 2. Without the staff a 1. There not being an elevator to the second floor was tough. Then there were 2 sounds at night. One sounded like something cheering on wood above me, and the other was something tapping on the wall. There was an extra charge when I checked in that wasn't on the site when I booked it. This could be the hotel or this dues fault, bit sure. My rating didn't really reflect the start because of the categories.

Nice rooms and location The hotel had very nice, what looked like to be newly renovated rooms (or at least the one I was in was). The location in Carlsbad was excellent, lots of good restaurants and a nice mall across the street, and its near the flower fields.

Great location for a great price. Could use some updates, but overall good spot near everything!
