The Queens

Though I booked this hotel four months in advance, and made clear that I wanted wheelchair access for my wife, the hotel informed me one week before the stay that all the rooms were on the first floor and there was no lift! The money for the room had by that stage been taken, but it was refunded. However, this is no way to treat customers, since I had to find alternative accessible accommodation at the last minute.

Stayed at the Queens for one night B & B September 8th, clean, beds comfortable, quiet location, secluded car park a great breakfast and outstanding value. Staff were courtious and very helpful. It was an excellent find that enabled us to visit friend’s in Carlisle whilst in transit from the north east.

Stayed as a party of 7 in 4 rooms travelling for my sons graduation in Carlisle. We arrived quite late having travelled up from Leeds but the staff were very accommodating, quickly sorting out our keys. As we had to leave early the following morning, the hotel offered to have our full cooked breakfasts ready for 7:00am the following morning which was great as we would have struggled to eat before the graduation. Rooms were very spacious and clean, great bed and pillows. Would highly recommend The Queens if you are travelling up to the lakes and Cumbria

Excellent food from an interesting menu. Andy & Kat (staff) were friendly, professional and very helpful. Apparently all the bedrooms are currently being refurbished by the new management team. Restaurant area a delight to sit in, with views over the beer garden. Fresh flowers on the tables were a lovely touch. We will be back when we can stay＞

Stopped for lunch when driving back to Scotland. Perfect, quiet country location off the M6. The food was great - we had mussels and a cheese pie. Lovely welcome and dog friendly, even offered the pooch some biscuits. Would recommend and will definitely revisit.

Excellent whitebait served with homemade tartar sauce. Comfortable bed, spacious room, nice big garden with a playground, just four minutes off the M6. Very friendly, accommodating service from Stephie.

The Queens Arms is a small hotel/inn not far from Carlisle and handy to the M6. It is a great stopping off place and would be the perfect base for a walking holiday. My wife and I stopped off for one night on a journey home from Yorkshire and during our stay we visited Gretna Green and Hadrian’s Wall, both of which are a short drive away. We were very impressed with the hotel which is well run with very friendly staff. Our room was quiet and comfortable and had everything we needed – there is a cosy bar with a good selection of beers and an outside terrace. We dined in the hotel and I enjoyed the best steak I’ve had for some time – we were fortunate to be there for the monthly pub quiz and had a very pleasant evening. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed the Queens Arms and would happily return again and would highly recommend.

Visited with a friend whilst out on a lengthy dog walk. Exceptionally dog friendly pub. We both ordered fish and chips. The food arrived quickly and was beautifully cooked. Staff were attentive and polite. The pub also has a lovely outside seating area. Would recommend.

Lovely Inn set in open surroundings with good safe parking. Bedroom very spacious and comfortable. The whole place is well run under the very friendly and expert hands of Stephanie whose kindness will be well remembered. The breakfasts were very good and our evening meals were tasty - only downside was wine selection - otherwise an excellent place to stay and we will definitely be back.
