Blackheath Lodge by the Oyster Collection

Excellent lodge! Great location, very friendly helpful staff, delicious breakfasts, large rooms well furnished with comfortable beds and pillows, and a beautiful view from our balcony. We can’t recommend Blackheath Lodge more highly!

Karin was super easy to communicate with prior to our arrival. She arranged our stay, airport transfers and a private tour guide for a day. Everything went very smoothly. We were welcomed warmly by the whole staff, and absolutely loved our room. They recommended an Italian restaurant and we ordered in because we were too tired to go out. There’s a cute little bar and lounge area near the lobby, so we had drinks there and just relaxed on our private spacious patio (room18). Breakfast was wonderful and our day tour was great. We will definitely recommend BHL to our friends and stay there again when in the area. Good value, homey feel, super people!

5 stars for everything about this amazing place! Every single staff member is so happy, friendly and attentive. Our room #18 was stunning and had a huge balcony. Lovely touch with Valentine's Day cookies. Around a 40 min walk along the sea front to V&A Waterfront or a couple of pounds in an Uber and I do mean £2!

Stayed 2 nights. Lovely loft room with sun loungers on a private balcony. Huge and very comfortable bed. Very clean and bright. Staff very attentive and organised a restaurant reservation. We walked to Sea Point on our first afternoon and unfortunately encountered an intimidating group of youths very close to the Guest House. Fortunately things didn’t escalate but subsequently we used Uber for all other trips. Other than that, things it might be worth knowing: - loft room stairs are steep which maybe an issue for some - neither of us could work out how the supplied hairdryer fitted in any of the plugs … might have been us of course … - Guest House bar is staffed all evening and well stocked. - Security on entry is good. - Load shedding sadly returned on our last few days in South Africa - airport transfer and driver great! Worth noting the traffic coming into Cape Town on the morning we were leaving looked horrendous (airport transfers could take anything up to 2 hours we were told). It is a very nice, very well appointed and cared for Guest House!

The Blackheath Lodge is a beautifully maintained boutique style hotel, based in a perfect position for visiting Cape Town and surroundings. The breakfast is fantastic as are the rooms, all with their own style and size. The staff are all extremely friendly and always have time for your questions and advice, all being managed by an exceptional manager Karin, who leads from the front, gaining the respect from her staff and customers. A fantastic hotel in an amazing city….

Wiretapping is not what I remember as a student or even as young working adult. As a matter of fact it was a let down and disappointment. I think it is a far better experience to take your own picnic basket, buy the wines of your choice at a well priced outlet and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the mountains. You pay at some farms from R 190 per person for 2 mouth full dips per glass and o ly tw tastings which I felt was not worth the experience.. The one farm I can recommend hands down is Boschendal. Every si gle staff member is warm and friendly irrespective if you are local.or international. Their deli offer great snacks ,sweet or savory, cold meats,and well priced wines a d they have an awesome night market which you .use check the days and times with the estate. It is just such a pity that it was so expensive for us as local South Africans to enjoy a product locally produced and after Covid we were the ones to support the wine industry. Even if it was expensive but you feel you got value for your ..only, a different story ,but I felt I paid more toward the. Designer decor than for the 2 sips of wine.
