Sea Five Boutique Hotel

The beautiful photos displayed on the hotel’s website date back to its opening, which was probably more than 10 years ago. We stayed for 3 nights at the Sea Five Boutique Hotel at a rate of $500 per night. We were not satisfied with our stay given the poorly trained staff. Moreover, this hotel is in serious need of renovation, and the photos we took speak for themselves. As usual, if you look at other visitors’ reviews, the manager will come up with counterarguments to justify himself and try to make us look like gullible patsies. In short, in its current state of maintenance, this hotel cannot justify the description it presents on the web

We arrived early on a Sunday morning after a long 12 hour flight. We were immediately made to feel welcome and given a drink and offered breakfast. The hotel is bright and airy and so relaxing. Check in was quick and easy. We were shown to our room on the top floor which turned out to be the penthouse suite. It’s stunning. Four balconies or terraces offering amazing views of the Atlantic and the back of Table Mountain. Plenty of tea and coffee. Adequate toiletries and lots of bottled water. Everything was white and airy with patio doors to let the outside in. Breakfast included fresh fruits and yogurts. Pastries or muffins and freshly cooked items from the kitchen. Apart from being small, intimate and away from the bustle of the sea front the staff made this visit. Had we not had a planed itinerary we would have stayed longer. Cyndi and every member of the staff could not have done more for us. I really did t want to leave.

This was the first leg of our honeymoon , and boy did these guys do a stellar job !!! We were given a free upgrade and so had the penthouse suite for our stay !! It was amazing , all amenites there , samsung tv with additional apps on it plenty to watch, bed was beautiful and the bathroom wawiii sat in the bath looking out on table mountain !!! Staff were wonderful the ladies in the morning making breakfast fantastic, my husbands eggs benedict is hands down the best hes ever had he said !!! The gentleman who was around more in the evenings as well fab Cyndi an absolute legend soo helpful and kind Gave us the absolute best start to our very special holiday thank you !!!! After gaining entry to Sea Five by intercom the first thing you see are two flights of stone stairs, which were a bit daunting after a twelve hour flight or I imagine would be if you had mobility problems. However, the welcome we received from Cyndy and staff was very warm and there were many hands to help carry our bags. Once inside, the whole feeling of the place is one of light and space, and I can imagine if the weather was warm and sunny, with the doors open onto the pool and small deck it would be ideal. Unfortunately our first day there was very cold and windy, and we felt more in need of a hot water bottle! We had a garden room on the ground floor, which was great as the Wi-Fi worked in our room, whilst I understand it doesn’t in the upper rooms. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc, with a good choice of hot dishes to follow if required. Sea Five is ideally situated, only a five minute walk from the main beach road where many cafes, restaurants and bars can be found, but also far enough away to be very quiet and peaceful at night. We also felt very safe in the Camps Bay Area, in fact I thought it the ideal area to stay in Cape Town, with a magnificent beach and crashing waves that you could watch for hours. The staff could not do enough for you, always smiling, and were helpful confirming our car hire for us. There is a free mini bar in the room, containing wine and beer and soft drinks, plus fresh milk for either tea or coffee (a nespresso machine) All in all, this was a great place to begin our holiday in South Africa. Thank you to Cyndy and all her staff for making our stay such a pleasant one.

Lovely relaxed three nights in the Sea Five Hotel. It’s small and feels very individual, staff were great and it’s perfectly placed. Ours was a large garden room, well decorated although it could have done with a bit more seating. Being on the ground floor kept it cool during the heat of the day and we had access to a seating area outside in the garden which was a nice place to drink the complementary beer from the mini bar! Breakfast was very good especially the home made seeded bread. We went to Table Mountain which is a ten minute drive away meaning you can get there relatively early, beating all the coach parties and only having a short wait at the cable car. The V&A water front is only 20 minutes away and Camps Bay itself has lots of decent restaurants to choose from with great sunsets and a very sandy beach. The area felt safe and there was no problem walking about in the evening. Be aware it is not easy to find, you get to the road and then the Sea 5 is not easy to spot as there is no sign just a low key plaque on the wall with the number 5 with a “C” as background.

A lovely hotel which is beautifully decorated throughout, in a superb location overlooking the sea and up towards Table Mountain, and within walking distance of many bars and restaurants along the sea front. The staff were very friendly and helpful, with their personal attention making guests feel special. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Breakfasts were superb, with the choice of fruit the best we had during our stay in South Africa. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel for those wishing for a very special stay in Camps Bay.
